The EBU’s children’s contest will celebrate its 23rd edition on December 13, 2025, in Tbilisi, Georgia, following the victory of the Caucasian country in the last edition held in Madrid. The Georgian capital will host the competition for the second time, after last year’s edition gathered more than 23 million viewers across 15 countries.
Montenegro returns to the junior contest after ten years of absence. Its last participation was in 2015, when Jana Mirković represented the country with the song “Oluja.” Now, the Montenegrin public broadcaster has confirmed the name of its representative for 2025: Asja Džogović.
Asja, a young artist with a brilliant musical record
Asja, 13 years old and originally from Bijelo Polje, is currently in the eighth grade at “Risto Ratković” Primary School in her hometown. The young artist has shown remarkable talent since childhood, earning important awards at national and regional festivals.
Her achievements include prizes at competitions such as “Naša radost” (best lyrics), “Golden Note” in Novi Pazar (best performance and arrangement), “Zlatna pahulja” in Rožaje, Đurđevdan in Banja Luka (best performance, composition, and arrangement), and “I Am Your Friend” in Požega, where she won both the children’s jury award and the best performance prize.
Her record is further enriched by a Grand Prize in all categories at Kids Stars in Sarajevo, recognitions at Voice of the Stars in Zagreb in 2024, and multiple awards at the prestigious ANGEL VOICE festival in Belgrade.
In addition to music, Asja dedicates her free time to painting and volleyball, although she emphasizes that her greatest passion is performing on stage.
Upon the confirmation of her selection as Montenegro’s representative, the young performer shared her excitement in statements to RTCG:
“I am looking forward to representing my country, Montenegro, at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in Georgia. I feel proud, but I also feel a great responsibility. I will do my best to present my country in the best possible way, as I have done so far. I trust myself and my authors, and I am confident that I will continue the streak of successes I have achieved in prestigious festivals across the region. This is another great challenge for me, the biggest so far, but I believe that we will also achieve significant success in Georgia.”
The selection process in Montenegro
The call to choose the Montenegrin representative was open to children between the ages of 9 and 14 who had achieved outstanding results in children’s music festivals in recent years. Vocal abilities, emotional interpretation, stage confidence, and live performance experience were especially valued, as well as natural communication with the audience.
The expert committee was composed of Stana Salgo (music program editor for the Republic of Croatia), Branka Banović (music editorial office editor of TVCG), and Igor Pejović (editor of the youth editorial board of TVCG). After reviewing the candidates, the jury reached a unanimous decision in favor of Asja Džogović.
Awaiting the song
For now, no details have been revealed about the song that Montenegro will present in Tbilisi. What has been confirmed is that it will be an unpublished and original entry, in line with EBU regulations, which also require artists to be between 9 and 14 years old on the day of the final.
