A lot has happened and is known already concerning the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest in the British city of Liverpool; below you can find a summary of the provisional dates of many Eurovision events.
Already selected artists and songs
In the contest of 2023 37 countries will take the stage, and by now we know two countries that have already selected their artists and songs, these countries are:
- Albania: Albina & Familja Kelmendi – Duje
- Ukraine: Tvorchi – Heart of Steel
There are also 4 countries that have selected their artists, but we do not know yet which song they are going to perform during this year’s contest, these are:
- Cyprus: Andrew Lambrou
- Israel: Noa Kirel
- Netherlands: Mia Nicolai and Dion Cooper
- Slovenia: Joker Out
National finals
The upcoming months will be full of national finals, and of almost 22 countries we know when these national finals are going to be held. Below you can find a list based on when the national final is going to be held.

Semi-Final allocation draw event
Traditionally the Semi-final allocation draw is being held in the months of January or February, and we expect that this will be no different this year.
Host Insignia Exchange
This event starts with the Host Isignia Exchange, which is a symbolic moment during which each host city adds an iconic insignia to the Eurovision key chain, before handing over the entire collection of insignia to the next host city.
2023 Semi-finals
Next to this, the United Kingdom, the other 4 Big Five countries, and this year’s winner Ukraine will each get to know the 2023 Semi-final in which they will vote.
During the event the remaining 31 countries will also be allocated a Semi-final, and they get to know in which half of their respective Semi-final they will perform. In the actual contest the producers of the show decide what the order will be, as to avoid, for example, multiple ballads being performed after each other. To determine the allocation draw, the 31 Semi-finalists will be divided in 6 pots, of which the content is based on historical voting patterns; the reason to do so is to reduce the impact of neighbourly voting.
Pre-parties
This year’s Eurovision Song Contest will also know its fair number of pre-parties of which “Eurovision in Concert” in the capital of the Netherlands, Amsterdam, is the biggest and most important one. These pre-parties are meant to promote the upcoming Eurovision entrants and their songs, but also to commemorate the artists and songs of yesteryear. Eurovision 2023: Preparations and Live Shows
On with the show! In the last weekend of April 2023 the rehearsals for the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest in Liverpool, United Kingdom, will start.

Below you can find the dates of the 2023 live shows of the Eurovision Song Contest, these are:
- Semi-Final One: May 9th 2023
- Semi-Final Two: May 11th 2023
- Grand Final: May 13th
New rules apply!
In the 2023 contest new rules apply, and these rules will have their impact on the progression of the shows. Below you can find what will change starting in the contest of 2023.
In the Semi-finals
In the Semi-finals only the viewers of the contest will decide which countries are going to progress to the Grand Final. In this regard, viewers of countries that participate in the respective Semi-final can vote as well as non-participating countries, which was not the case before. Viewers from non-participating countries can vote online through a secure online platform by using a credit card from their respective country. The votes of non-participating countries will be regarded as one country’s votes.
In the Grand Final
In the Grand Final there will be a professional jury in each participating country that votes for their favourites, next to public voting, just like during the last couple of years.
