Who is Auri? Meet the official mascot of Eurovision 2026

The Eurovision Song Contest once again features an official mascot. After Eurocat (Zagreb 1989), Eurobird (Malmö 1992), the drone Leo (Turin 2022), and Lumo (Basel 2025), the colorful list of Eurovision characters welcomes Auri, the ambassador of Vienna 2026.

Designed as a “true ray of sunshine,” its name comes from the Latin word for gold, “aurum.” Its creation is inspired by the various artistic, architectural, and historical attractions of Vienna.

The Austrian broadcaster ORF highlights that Auri is more than just a friendly and pleasant face. The animated character aims to become a friend to every visitor attending Vienna during the 70th edition of the contest. In fact, it is expected to welcome the 35 Eurovision 2026 artists during the turquoise carpet. Auri is a symbol of unity and creativity, meant to express the power of shared experiences. As Vienna 2026’s ambassador, it seeks to embrace all fans by “conveying openness, respect, and the joy of being together.”

Auri is presented as a furry creature featuring the official colors of the new Eurovision emblem, purple and fuchsia in different shades. It also stands out for its yellow crest and its playful striped socks in multiple colors.

A wide smile dominates Auri’s face, along with two bright eyes and a playful purple donut-shaped nose. The most distinctive element of the character is its waist bag shaped like the iconic Eurovision heart, alongside the flag of Austria as host country of this 70th edition. In addition, it is always seen wearing its golden headphones.
