Montenegro: RTCG selects Knez for ESC 2015

We now officially know the first certain ESC participant for next year’s contest, as Knez will represent Montenegro at Eurovision Song Contest 2015 in Vienna. It has been revealed minutes ago at a press conference in the studio of broadcaster RTCG. He will be hoping to bring Montenegro to the final for the second time in a row after Sergej Ćetković gave the small Balkan country its first ever qualification earlier this year.

Knez said at the the press conference, that he was not surprised he had been approacehed by RTCG, because it is well known, that he is a big Eurovision fan. He thinks the competition will be very strong this year, especially because several of the Balkan countries are returning to the contest. He also commented, that he thinks, the preasure is really big on him, because Sergej Ćetković reached the final this year, so people will expect the same from him. He will give everything he can, and use his experience, and knowledge the best he can. He hope his song will represent Montenegro in the right way.

 

The singer said he had not yet decided how his song will be, but that he has noticed the success of Balkan ballads at Eurovision in recent years. He does, however not exclude, that he might sing something catchy. His main goal is to make a song, that will not just be liked in the Balkans, but all over Europe. He has serious thoughts about singing in English, but it’s not definitely decided yet.
The song Knez will sing will be announced by RTCG at a later date.
Knez (Nenad Knežević) was born in Cetinje, Montenegro on December 5th 1967, and has been singing since an early age. When he was six years old, he participated in his first festival in Montenegro, “Naša Radost”, and despite being young he went on to win it. After having success with being part of 4 different bands, Knez started his solo career in 1992 with the single “Da l’ si ikada mene voljela”. He has since released 11 albums, several singles, and is now one of the most popular singers, not only in Montenegro, but also in other Balkan countries. Besides being a singer himself, he also composes and produces music for other famous artists such as Serbian superstar Ceca.
