Princ will represent Serbia at the Eurovision Song Contest 2025 in Basel, Switzerland, after winning the national selection Pesma za Evroviziju with his emotional ballad “Mila.” Following a dramatic voting process that earned him 18 points, Princ secured his place to perform in the second semi-final on May 15th.

How Princ won Serbia’s national selection for Eurovision 2025

Serbia has chosen a new artist to carry the nation’s hopes at Eurovision after Teya Dora passed the torch to Princ, winner of the 4th edition of Pesma za Evroviziju with his song “Mila.” Despite a tight race in Belgrade, Princ clinched victory and will aim for a spot in the Grand Final.

The Serbian entry was determined by a 50/50 split between jury and televote. The professional jury, led by Slobodan Marković alongside Snežana Vukomanović, Dragan Đorđević Suzuki, Zorja Pajić, and Dejan Kostić, gave their top marks to Vukayla’s “Mask,” while awarding Princ just 10 points. Meanwhile, the televote favored Bojana & David’s “Šesto čulo,” granting Princ 8 points from the public.

But with a combined 18 points, Princ ultimately claimed the golden ticket to Eurovision 2025 in Basel.

Meet Princ: Serbia’s voice for Eurovision 2025

Born as Stefan Zdravković on September 29, 1993 in Vranje, Serbia, Princ (also known as Princ od Vranje, meaning Prince of Vranje) is more than just a singer—he’s a multifaceted artist. Since 2002, he has lived in Belgrade, where his musical journey flourished.

Before music took center stage, Princ excelled in karate, becoming a national champion and even representing Serbia’s national team. At 15, while attending Belgrade’s Sixth Gymnasium, he formed his first band, Šesta Žica. Later, he pursued Scandinavian languages, literature, and culture at the University of Belgrade, specializing in Norwegian.

Princ is a versatile musician—he sings, plays guitar and drums, and embraces a pop-rock style. Since 2016, he’s led the band Sizip and took the stage in the rock opera Jesus Christ Superstar (2020) in Belgrade. His festival appearances span Belarus, Bulgaria, Malta, Kazakhstan, Lithuania, Italy, and Spain, winning accolades like River Notes International Music Festival (2020) and Golden Voice Malta (2020).

His songwriting credits include “Lepo moje Vranje” (performed by Đorđe Popović) and in 2021 he reached the semi-finals of The Voice Bulgaria from over 4,000 contestants. His debut single “Samo mi je lepo” dropped in 2022.

Princ first attempted to enter Eurovision in 2022 but withdrew due to creative differences. In 2023, he returned with “Cvet sa istoka”, winning strong public support yet placing second after jury votes behind Luke Black. That year, he also performed “Divna” at Belgrade’s Spring Festival.

In 2024, he released hits like “Ajša,” “Ela Ela,” and “Belo”, and won Montenegro’s Biser Jadrana Festival with “Čardak.” His emotionally charged music and charismatic stage presence have established him as a standout figure in both Serbian and international music scenes.

“Mila”: Serbia’s song for Eurovision 2025

“Mila” was written and composed by Dušan Bačić, with musical arrangements by Dejan Nikolić. The song is a powerful, emotional ballad that explores the highs and lows of love—joy, pain, sacrifice, and hope.

In “Mila,” Princ sings of a deep, consuming love, evoking imagery of memories’ fragrances and melodies that carry his beloved’s name. The lyrics explore themes of protection, longing, and the bittersweet nature of love, as he pledges to care for Mila even if she loves someone else.

The ballad paints a portrait of emptiness and sorrow without Mila’s presence, comparing life’s bitterness to living “without a pinch of sugar.” Yet despite the heartbreak, it embraces the unpredictable path of love, honoring those who give their all in its pursuit.

With “Mila,” Princ aims to touch both juries and audiences at Eurovision 2025, delivering a heartfelt performance that embodies the universal emotions of love and sacrifice.

Serbian

Neka bude mi
To zadnja večera
Nek oko Kerbera
U noć me potera

Nek te probudi
Taj miris sećanja
I moja muzika
Od tvoga imena

Mila
Ti si platila što volim te ja
Mila
Život vratila sa ruba
Ima mnogo razloga da
Ipak voliš drugoga
Al’ tako mi je stalo da te čuvam

Ovaj život je
Bez zrna šećera
Od kada ne je da
A vera nevera

Nek te poljubi
Ko bolje slaže te
A nek te dobije
Ko rizikuje sve

Mila
Ti si platila što volim te ja
Mila
Život vratila sa ruba
Ima mnogo razloga da
Ipak voliš drugoga
Al’ tako mi je stalo da te čuvam

English

Let this be for me
The last supper
Let the hound of Hades
Chase me into the night

Let the scent of memories
Wake you up
And my music
Made from your name

Mila
You’ve paid the price for my love
Mila
You’ve brought life back from the edge
You have many reasons
To love another one
But I only want to take care of you

This life is
Without a grain of sugar
Since no became yes,
And faith turned to betrayal

Let the better liar
Kiss you
Let the one who risks it all
Win you over

Mila
You’ve paid the price for my love
Mila
You’ve brought life back from the edge
You have many reasons
To love another one
But I only want to take care of you.

Serbia at the Eurovision Song Contest: a quick history

Serbia debuted as an independent country at Eurovision in 2007, triumphing with Marija Šerifović’s “Molitva”scoring 268 points in Helsinki. Since then, Serbia has achieved four more Top 10 finishes, including third place with Željko Joksimović’s “Nije ljubav stvar” (2012).

Out of 16 participations, Serbia has qualified for the final 13 times, missing out only in 2009, 2013, and 2017. Even in non-qualifying years, Serbia narrowly missed the mark, placing 11th in the semi-finals.

Serbia’s other Top 3 results include 6th place with “Oro” (Jelena Tomašević & Bora Dugić, 2008) and 5th place with Konstrakta’s viral “In corpore sano” (2022). Recent years saw mixed outcomes—Luke Black placed 24th (2023)while Teya Dora climbed to 17th (2024).
