Miriana Conte’s Journey to Eurovision 2025

Malta once again used its renowned Malta Eurovision Song Contest (MESC) to select its entry for the Eurovision Song Contest.

Miriana Conte emerged victorious at MESC 2025, winning the hearts of the Maltese public while finishing second with the expert jury. Her entry, initially titled “Kant”, was renamed “Serving” ahead of Eurovision due to controversy over its original title. She will aim to secure a spot in the grand final after Malta’s non-qualification last year.

Who is Miriana Conte?

Born December 17, 2000, in Qormi, a town near Malta International Airport, Miriana Conte grew up surrounded by music. Although Maltese by nationality, she also has Italian roots through her father, who hails from Naples.

Miriana’s love for music began at age five with singing lessons, fostering a passion for performance. Her distinctive voice blends contemporary pop with modern, dynamic influences.

In a candid interview with ESC Covers in February 2025, she revealed being diagnosed with ADHD in 2023.

A Career Marked by Persistence

Miriana first entered the Maltese music scene in 2016, competing at MESC 2017 with “Don’t Look Down.” Despite finishing last in the final, she returned in 2018 with “Rocket,” improving her placement to 12th.

That same year, she joined Malta’s X Factor, co-founding the group 4th Line, which reached the final before disbanding in 2019. Miriana later returned as a soloist on X Factor Malta but didn’t reach the final.

In 2019, she participated in the Maltese Pride anthem “Roll the Dice,” collaborating with local artists to promote inclusivity and diversity.

After a three-year hiatus, Miriana competed in MESC 2022 with “Look What You’ve Done Now,” finishing 6th. In 2023, she performed “Venom” at MESC, placing 9th.

Finally, in 2025, she achieved her goal of winning MESC with “Kant,” later renamed “Serving” following EBU guidelines.

How Did Miriana Win MESC 2025?

MESC 2025 introduced a streamlined format, reducing the finalists from 36 to 24. The competition included two semifinals and a grand final.

In the final, Miriana placed second with the jury but won the public televote, overtaking Kristy Spiteri to claim victory with a total of 182 points.

She will perform during the second semifinal on May 15, 2025, at Basel’s St. Jakobshalle.

About “Serving” – Malta’s Eurovision 2025 Entry

Originally titled “Kant” (meaning “singing” in Maltese), Miriana’s song faced controversy due to its resemblance in sound to a slang phrase in English. Following a protest from the BBC, the EBU requested a title change.

Renamed “Serving”, the song conveys a message of empowerment and authenticity, encouraging listeners to reject societal expectations and embrace freedom surrounded by positivity.

The official music video for “Serving” premiered on March 14, 2025.

I’ve got a secret you should know
Come a little close, I’ll whisper slow
I’ve got a secret you should know
(Shhh shhh shhh shhh)

People say “don’t be so loud”
Watch the words coming out your mouth
Hands crossed, don’t dare stand out
(Follow the crowd, follow the crowd)

Pull up, pull up, make ’em all bow down
Shut up, shut up, I’ma be real loud
Get up, get up, I don’t back down
(Follow me now, follow me now)

Only lovers, no enemies
Feel it round me queen energy
In my power a higher me
Here’s the secret remedy

Why should we let other people decide
When we could be having the time of our lives
Let down your walls, come and dance to my vibe
I do it all the time
Yeah, I do it all the time

Serving!
Do-re-mi-fa-s-s-serving
Do-re-mi-fa-s-s-serving

They say no, do the opposite
That’s it
Give up, give up, this girl don’t quit
Follow me now

Only lovers, no enemies
Feel it round me queen energy
Here’s our secret remedy

Why should we let other people decide
When we could be having the time of our lives
Let down your walls, come and dance to my vibe
I do it all the time
Yeah, I do it all the time
Yeah, I do it all the time

Serving!
Do-re-mi-fa-s-s-serving
Do-re-mi-fa-s-s-serving

I’ve got a secret you should know
Do-re-mi-fa-so
I’ve got a secret you should know
Do-re-mi-fa-so

Why should we let other people decide
When we could be having the time of our lives
Let down your walls, come and dance to my vibe
I do it all the time
Yeah, I do it all the time

Serving!
(I’m serving)
Do-re-mi-fa-s-s-serving
(I’m serving)
Do-re-mi-fa-s-s-serving

I’ve got а secret you ѕhould know
