The Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2026 is heading into weeks of intensive work and preparation that will culminate in Malta’s grand musical celebration on Saturday 24 October. This year, 16 young artists will thrill us on stage and compete for the coveted crystal microphone.
The Eurovision season for the 24th edition of the European children’s contest has brought a wide variety of entries. Among them, Montenegro’s entry stands out for its strong message of unity. Broadcaster RTCG internally selected Mija Vujović to represent the Balkan country, trusting the young artist to fly its flag on the Junior Eurovision stage.
What has her journey to Junior Eurovision been like? What lies behind her musical entry? How has Mija Vujović built an identity of her own within the children’s music scene?
This time, we explore Mija Vujović’s musical career. The young artist will represent Montenegro at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2026 with “Muzika Nas Spaja”, an entry whose title means “Music Unites Us” and which champions the power of music as a universal language capable of connecting people.
Meet Mija Vujović: a young artist with experience at numerous children’s festivals
Born in Podgorica (Montenegro) in 2016, Mija Vujović is nine years old and has completed the fifth year at the British School in Podgorica. Alongside her academic education, music, dance and various artistic disciplines have been part of her life from a very early age.
Singing and dancing are her main means of expression, although her artistic interests extend beyond the stage. Mija Vujović also enjoys drawing, painting and reciting poetry. In addition, she is fluent in English and French, two languages she speaks alongside her native language.
She has developed her musical experience both as a solo performer and within various groups. Mija Vujović is a member of Zvjezdice, a children’s choir in Podgorica, and also sings in her school choir. This choral experience complements her career as a performer and has familiarised her with making music as part of a group from an early age.
During 2026, she also took part as a performer in Razglednica Podgorice za djecu, an educational audiovisual project created by Ljubo Jovović. The initiative gave the young artist another opportunity to develop her experience in front of cameras and on stage.
A career shaped by children’s festivals
Although she is still taking her first steps, Mija Vujović has already established a place for herself at various children’s festivals in Montenegro and other countries in the region.
One of her first accolades came at the international festival Dok teče Lašva. On her debut, she won first prize for performance in her category. A year later, she returned to the competition and reached the podium again, this time receiving second prize for performance.
Her career in Montenegro has also brought several accolades. At Naša radost, a children’s festival held in Podgorica, she received the award for best stage performance. In addition, the high regard in which she was held within the competition led to her joining the children’s jury for one of its editions, a particularly meaningful experience for the young performer.
At Zlatna pahulja 2025, Mija Vujović also received the professional jury’s award, adding another accolade to her still-short career.
Her experience is not limited to Montenegro. At the international festival Ta se pesma ljubav zove, held in Kikinda (Serbia), she won second prize for performance. She also received recognition from both the children’s jury and the Čuperak children’s choir.

“Muzika Nas Spaja” will be the entry with which Mija Vujović represents Montenegro at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2026.
Singer and songwriter Marko Kon, who represented Serbia at the Eurovision Song Contest 2009, has joined forces with Vasilije “Vasco” Čolan, a contestant in Serbia’s 2022 national selection, to create the entry that Mija Vujović will perform on the Eurovision stage.
The song conveys a message of unity, equality and hope among all people. Its central idea is that, although we are different, we all share the same world and live under the same sun, the same sky and the same stars.
Music is presented as a universal language capable of uniting people and removing the differences that might divide them. The song also invites everyone to dance, sing and enjoy themselves together, expressing the joy and freedom of sharing moments with others.
The repetition of phrases such as “music unites us” reinforces this message of fellowship. Ultimately, the song champions the idea that we all belong to the same community and that music can help us feel united.

A team with Eurovision experience behind Montenegro’s entry
Montenegro’s entry has two writers with previous experience in the Eurovision world. Marko Kon and Vasilije “Vasco” Čolan are the songwriters behind “Muzika Nas Spaja”, whose title can be translated as “Music Unites Us”.
Marko Kon’s name is particularly familiar to Eurovision Song Contest fans. In 2009, he represented Serbia alongside Milaan with “Cipela” at the contest held in Moscow (Russia).
The Serbian entry finished 10th in its semi-final with 60 points, but did not qualify for the grand final. That edition used a system in which nine finalists were determined by televoting, while the tenth place was decided by the jury, which ultimately awarded that final ticket to Croatia.
Marko Kon was not only a performer on that entry. He is also credited as a composer and lyricist of “Cipela”, with Aleksandar Kobac and Milan Nikolić also credited for the musical composition.
Vasilije “Vasco” Čolan also has previous experience directly connected with the Eurovision Song Contest. In 2022, he took part in the first edition of Pesma za Evroviziju, Serbia’s selection process for the Eurovision Song Contest, with “Znaš li”. The song was eliminated in the second semi-final, finishing 17th out of 18 participants with zero points.
“Znaš li” also had Marko Kon among its writers, alongside Vasilije Čolan, with Ivan Franović and Anđela Vujović Angellina contributing to the lyrics. Now, the two are combining their experience to create the entry that Mija Vujović will take to the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2026.
Lyrics to “Muzika Nas Spaja” by Mija Vujović, Montenegro’s entry at Junior Eurovision 2026
Montenegrin
Svima nam isto sunce
Jednako grije
Njemu
Nema razlike
Među nama
Nad svima isto nebo
Je jednako plavo
Vjetar nek s nama zapjeva
PJESMI NEKA NEMA KRAJA
OOOOOOOO
MUZIKA NAS SPAJA
OOOOOOOO
Jedna pjesma
Jedan svijet
Hajde Idemo skupa
Cijela planeta
Svima su zvijezde istog sjaja
PJESMI NEKA NEMA KRAJA
OOOOOOOO
MUZIKA NAS SPAJA
OOOOOOOO
PJESMI NEKA NEMA KRAJA
OOOOOOOO
MUZIKA NAS SPAJA OK
OOOOOOO
Skoči, pleši pa zapjevaj
Neka svi te čuju, neka svi te vide
Zasjaj do blistavog sjaja
PJESMI NEKA NEMA KRAJA
Svima se isti mjesec
Jednako smije
Njemu
Nema razlike
Među nama
Zvjezdano vedro nebo
Je jednako tamno
Topli nas Vjetar miluje
PJESMA NEKA NEMA KRAJA
OOOOOOOO
MUZIKA NAS SPAJA
OOOOOOOO
Ova pjesma
Naš je svijet
Hajde Idemo skupa
Cijela planeta
Svima su zvijezde istog sjaja
PJESMI NEKA NEMA KRAJA
English
The same sun
Warms us all equally
To it
There is no difference
Between us
The same sky above us all
Is equally blue
Let the wind sing along with us
Let the song never end
OOOOOOOO
Music unites us
OOOOOOOO
One song
One world
Come on, let’s go together
The whole planet
The stars shine the same for everyone
Let the song never end
OOOOOOOO
Music unites us
OOOOOOOO
Let the song never end
OOOOOOOO
Music unites us, okay?
OOOOOOO
Jump, dance and sing
Let everyone hear you, let everyone see you
Shine with a brilliant glow
Let the song never end
The same moon
Smiles equally upon us all
To it
There is no difference
Between us
The starry, clear sky
Is equally dark
The warm wind caresses us
Let the song never end
OOOOOOOO
Music unites us
OOOOOOOO
This song
Is our world
Come on, let’s go together
The whole planet
The stars shine the same for everyone
Let the song never end

Montenegro at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest
Following the dissolution of Serbia and Montenegro, Montenegrin broadcaster RTCG took some time to join Junior Eurovision. In 2006, Montenegro received an invitation to participate as an independent nation, but declined the offer. It was not until 2014 that the country joined. The official documentation confirming Montenegro’s debut reached the EBU on 18 July.
The Balkan country participated in Junior Eurovision for two consecutive editions. During that time, RTCG selected its entries internally, aiming to reduce costs amid a particularly difficult budget situation.
In Malta in 2014, Maša & Lejla finished in 14th place with “Budi Dijete Na Jedan Dan”, scoring just 24 points. They achieved modest results in both the national jury ranking (13th place) and the viewers’ ranking (14th place).
In 2015, RTCG once again selected its representative internally. On the country’s second appearance, Jana Mirković received 36 points with “Oluja”, finishing in 13th place. The entry was rated more highly by the national juries (12th place), while it could finish no higher than 14th place among viewers. This remains Montenegro’s best placing in the competition, although it rounded off a rather modest record at Junior Eurovision.
Montenegro’s withdrawal in 2016 was prompted by the financial problems facing the public broadcaster. The country subsequently remained outside the contest until its return in 2025.
Young Asja Džogović represented the Balkan country on its return. With “I Tužna I Srećna Priča”, she received 49 points, finishing in 17th place. She placed 16th in the national jury voting, but could finish no higher than 17th in the viewers’ ranking through the online platform.
