Eurovision Eurovision 2018 Ukraine

Tonight: Vidbir 2018 kicks off in Ukraine

This evening sees Ukraine set off in search of a worthy successor to Ruslana and Jamala – and a third ESC title.

In the first of two Semi-Finals of Vidbir 2018, the following nine challengers will put everything on the line at Kiev’s Palace of Culture, in their quest to be on the plane to Lisbon in May:

  • Сonstantine: ‘Misto’
  • Serhiy Babkin: ‘Kriz tvoyi ochi’
  • Laud: ‘Waiting’
  • Kazka: ‘Dyva’
  • The VIO: ‘Ng’a-Ng’a’
  • Kozak System: ‘Mamai’
  • Vil’na: ‘Forest song’
  • Pur:Pur: ‘Fire’
  • The Erised: ‘Heroes’

Three of these acts will advance to the Final on 24th February. To succeed, the Semi-Finalists will need to capture the votes of the public and of an expert jury comprising Jamala, Andriy Danylko (better known to us, of course, as ESC legend Verka Serduchka) and singer/producer Eugene Filatov.

Last year’s ESC representatives O.Torvald will provide interval entertainment, along with this year’s Czech entry Mikolas, who’ll be hoping to drum up support for ‘Lie to Me’ with a memorable performance of his ‘saucy’ song.

The fun starts at 18:00 CET. You won’t miss any of the action if you check out our Multi-Window Live Feedback.
