Tonight: Melodifestivalen continues in Sweden with heat 3

Melodifestivalen, the national selection that most fans are waiting for, continues in Sweden tonight!

The third heat of Melodifestivalen 2022 will be broadcast live from Stockholm at 20:00 CET. Below you will find all the necessary information regarding tonight’s semi-final. Hosts, artists, running order, backing vocalists and more!

1. Cazzi Opeia– “I can’t get enough”

Cazzi is debutant in Melodifestivalen. She was eliminated during the qualifying week in Idol 2009 but then got a record contract. Her debut single “I Belong To You” from 2010 became a hit when Tiësto included a remix of the song on one of his albums. She was also hailed early on by American celebrity blogger Perez Hilton. Since then, Cazzi Opeia has become a sought-after songwriter in K-pop, which has resulted in many top spots on the Billboard charts and collaborations with stars such as BTS, Red Velvet, NCT 127 and Enhypen. As a songwriter, she has sold more than 20 million physical albums, streamed over 4 billion times and has more than 1.5 billion views on YouTube.
Cazzi about her song: It’s a pop song that makes you so happy you will not get enough of it. We wrote this song at a songwriting camp this summer and already felt it in the room that this is a strong song.

2. Lancelot – “Lyckligt slut”
Text & music: Lancelot Hedman, Niklas Carson Mattsson

Lancelot Hedman Graaf has since 2019 mostly been active in the dance pop duo Lance & Linton. During 2020 and 2021, he worked to develop his own sound. Lancelot’s songs are described as music from the heart, self-experienced lyrics about a life with high peaks and deep valleys – love, betrayal and self-examination. He claims to be influenced by older music and artists such as Fred Åkerström, BB King, Johnny Cash and Freddie King. This is his debut in Melodifestivalen.
Lancelot about his song: I would say that this song is the best I have written in my life so far. I came up with the song idea when I was sitting on an airplane and everything felt great and I was afraid it would disappear.

3. Lisa Miskovsky – “Best to come”

Lisa Miskovsky returns to Melodifestivalen 10 years after her debut. She competed with “Why start a fire” and finished 9th in the final but won the Authors’ Prize in the Marcel Bezençon Awards. She has sold over 200,000 albums and won five Rockbjörnar and two Swedish Grammys, including Female Artist of the Year at the 2004 Grammys Gala. In addition to her own artistry, she has had great success as a songwriter for others and has had many different musical collaborations. Among other things, she has worked with Joakim Berg from Kent and the metal band In Flames and participated in the theme song for the computer game Mirror’s Edge. Lisa Miskovsky also has a sports career where she has been a member of the Swedish national team in snowboarding. She has also played ice hockey and been a sports reporter.
Lisa about her song: The song is about having to feel a little hope and see a little light ahead when it has been at its darkest, and I think we all need that. I’m not a dancing woman, so someone else will take care of it, but I promise that there will be a lot of speed, it will feel spontaneous and we will have fun together.

4. Tribe Friday – “Shut me up”
Text & music: Isak Gunnarsson, Robin Hanberger Pérez, Noah Deutschmann  

Tribe Friday’s music is described as a heartbreaking mix of indie rock, dancing pop and emo. The band has toured on two continents and was nominated for Group of the Year at P3 Guld 2021. During the autumn, the band toured in Germany and Sweden, at the same time as they completed the upcoming debut album Bubblegum Emo. This is their first time in Melodifestivalen.
Tribe Friday about their song: It’s a real hit song, but with garage guitars, garage bass and garage drums… It’s not that much of a hit, actually. But it’s a song, we’ll play a song.

5. Faith Kakembo – “Freedom”
Text & music: Laurell Barker, Anderz Wrethov, Palle Hammarlund, Faith Kakembo

Faith competed in Melodifestivalen 2020 with “Crying rivers” and finished 5th in her heat. She is a nurse anesthetist from Jönköping. She was discovered when she participated in the talent competition P4 Nästa 2019, where she won her county final. In the final, she drew Melodifestivalen’s Karin Gunnarsson’s attention. As a child, Faith was interested in football and scouting. She became interested in music in her teens when she joined her friends’ gospel choir at church.
Faith about her song: It’s a warm and hopeful song. I am so incredibly touched by the text, and I hope you will be too.

6. Linda Bengtzing – “Fyrfaldigt hurra!”

Linda Bengtzing returns to Melodifestivalen for the eighth (!) time which makes her the solo artist with most participations in the history of the contest! In addition to all her participations in Melodifestivalen, she has been in several musicals and participated in TV programs such as Rampfeber and Körslaget and toured with Diggiloo. For her role as Mimi Marquez in the musical Rent, she was nominated for a Guldmask (Gold Mask) for the best female lead in 2007. The same year she sang with Markoolio the duet “Värsta schlagern”, which was supposed to compete in Melodifestivalen but was eventually rejected and later became a big hit.
Linda about her song: Fyrfaldigt hurra! I see the song as exactly what it is. We toast to what we remember and a fourfold cheer for our existence. I feel that this is the party of the parties and I want the number to also feel like the party of the parties.

7. Anders Bagge – “Bigger than the universe”

Anders Bagge’s musical journey began when he accompanied his father to the music studio as a child. During his school years, Anders was in several bands, and in the early ’90s he was a member of the groups Legacy of Sound and Ruff ‘N’ Redy. In the late 1990s, he started a production company that achieved great international success. Anders has written and produced songs for world artists such as Jennifer Lopez, Madonna, Celine Dion, Janet Jackson, Santana and Enrique Iglesias. Anders Bagge has been open with his stage fright but has said he has become more open to singing after his participation in the program Masked Singer 2021, where he finished in fourth place. Now he goes from judging and coaching others to stepping onto the stage as an artist.
Anders about his song: A super song, a real feelgood song. One will think that it feels good in the soul and heart.

The two acts that get the most votes will advance directly to the Final, while those who finish in the third and fourth places will go through to the semi-final, which will take place on the 5th of March. The results of the Semi-Finals and the Second Chance Show will be decided by 100% televoting.
