As previously announced, all participants were required to perform today the song in whichever language they intend to use at Eurovision, only one of them decided to keep the Icelandic version.

The winner of Söngavekeppnin 2016 will be decided after two voting rounds. In the first one, the six candidates will perform their songs and a 50-50 mix of televoting and regional jury will select the two acts which will advance to a superfinal. In the superfinal, both songs will be performed again and the overall winner will be chosen solely by televoting.

Ragnhildur Steinunn Jónsdóttir & Guðrún Dís Emilsdóttir will be in charge of hosting the show, which will feature some guest performances: Sandra Kim (Winner of Eurovision 1986), Loreen (Winner of Eurovision 2012) and former Icelandic participants performing a medley to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Söngvakeppnin.
