RTVE has just announced that multitalented opera singer Melani will represent Spain at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2019. The winner of the last edition of The Voice Kids in Spain has been selected internally to wave the country’s flag on November 24 in Gliwice.
Melani is 12 years old and rose to fame when she was the winner of The Voice Kids 2018. She plays the piano and violin and attends dance lessons. This young singer also loves gymnastics and has achieved numerous prizes. When Melani has been given the news live she has started crying as she’s been a big fan of the contest since she was little.
Melani has been singing since she was 8 years old and joined her town’s children choir. Back then, her teacher showed her Mozart‘s “Due Pupille Amabili” and started getting to know Maria Callas, which led her to learn classical music on her own as she wasn’t allowed to enter the conservatory at such a young age. Nowadays, she is keen into playing the violin and piano and composes her own pieces.
Apart from classical music, this young singer practises rhythmic gymnastics, dancing and ballet. You can follow her on Facebook to discover more about her career.
The song will be premiered at a later date, so we need to wait until we can listen to the Spanish ‘come-back’ entry for Junior Eurovision.
Spain has taken part at Junior Eurovision four times reaching very successful places, no lower than 4th. The country won the contest in 2004 when María Isabel performed Antes Muerta Que Sencilla in Lillehammer, Norway. They withdrew in 2007 and had been interested in the competition for the last few years.
