The first semi-final of the 56th edition of Festival da Canção has just finished in Portugal, where the first five finalist have been chosen!
After the cobination of votes from the public (50%) and the professional expert panel (50%), the following candidates have gone through to the Grand Final on March 12th:
- Os Quatro e Meia – Amanhã
- Aurea – Why?
- FF – Como é Bom Esperar Alguém
- Diana Castro – Ginger Ale
- Maro – Saudade, Saudade
The jury members were Dulce Pontes, Dino D’Santiago, Surma, Teresa Salgueiro, Pedro Granger, Miguel Cadete and Tatanka, The Black Mamba’s vocalist who represented Portugal last year in Eurovision after winning Festival da Canção 2021.
10 acts performed in this first show which was hosted by Jorge Gabriel, Sónia Araújo and Inês Lopes Gonçalves, who was interviewing the singers during the show:

- Diana Castro – Ginger Ale
- FF – Como é Bom Esperar Alguém
- Norton – Hope
- Aurea – Why?
- Kumpania Algazarra – A Minha Praia
- Maro – Saudade, Saudade
- Valas & Os Astronautas – Odisseia
- Fado Bicha – Povo Pequenino
Four special guests performed today, including Rita Redshoes, Expensive Soul duo and Rui Pregal da Cunha, who was one of the guest composers in the 2020 edition. And of course, The Black Mamba as winners of the last edition.
In two days on Monday, March 7, the Portuguese national selection will continue with another 10 acts competing for the final spots.
