RTP has just revealed the selection method for the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest. After a gap year, Portugal is back to the competition and “Festival da Cançao” will be the show where they will choose their representative as they have done in the past years. The national selection will have two shows: a semi final and a final.
Portuguese broadcaster is calling for songs which have to be written in Portuguese, the songs can be composed by national or international composers. 10 songs will compete at semi-final and only 5 songs will qualify for the national final, the winner will be chosen by public vote.
Official dates for “Festival da Cançao” haven’t been confirmed although ESCToday.com has revealed that the shows will take place on 8th and 15th March.
