Portugal 2024: Artists and songs of the national final revealed!

Yesterday (18-01-2024) all 20 songs of the Portuguese national final, “Festival da Canção 2024”, were revealed by the Portuguese national broadcaster, RTP. The winner of Festival da Canção 2024 will get the ticket to represent Portugal in the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 in Malmö (Sweden).

Some time ago RTP, the Portuguese national broadcaster, revealed twenty composers that would battle it out in this annual competition. Of these composers 14 were invited by the national broadcaster and 6 composers were chosen by public submission. In total RTP received 809 song submissions.

Which artists will perform in the 2024 Portuguese national final?

In the Portuguese national final the following 20 artists will perform. You can also see in which of the two semi-finals they will take the stage, and below you can find a video with snippets of all competing songs.

Semi-Final One (February 24th 2024)

  • João Borsch – Pelas Costuras
  • Left – Volto a Ti
  • Mela – Água
  • Mila Dores – Afia a Língua
  • Nena – Teorias da Conspiração

Semi-Final Two (March 2nd 2024)

What is the set-up of this year’s Festival da Canção 2024?

The set-up of this year’s Portuguese national final, Festival da Canção 2024, is the following: There will be two semi-finals, on February 24th and March 2nd 2024. Of each semi-final the 5 acts with the highest score will proceed to the grand final. The songs will be judged by both a professional jury and public voting. Next to this, the public can vote for one other song that was not initially chosen to proceed to the grand final. This means that twelve acts will compete in the Portuguese grand final, which will take place on March 9th 2024.

Who represented Portugal in Eurovision 2023?

In the Eurovision Song Contest 2023 in Liverpool (UK) Portugal was represented by Mimicat, she ended in 9th place (of 15) in Semi-final 1, and eventually took the 23rd place (of 26) in the Grand Final.
