I had high standards for The Netherlands. I was not disappointed. Douwe Bob will represent The Netherlands at the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest in Stockholm with the song “Slow Down”. The folk rock genre works really well. Douwe’s vocals are unique and I’m having flashes of a young Johnny Cash. This entry is strong.
“Slow Down” is a favorite of mine and I can’t get the chorus out of my head. The lyrics are solid and I’m sure The Netherlands will find a way to present this on-stage that’s fun and professional. Douwe Bob is a good-looking young man with beautiful blue eyes, but this is no vapid heartthrob. He brings a maturity to his vocals and lyrical content the juries will note.
I would hate for The Netherlands to have a repeat of last year and not wind up in the final. This song belongs in the final and is safely in my personal top 5.
