Eurovision 2016 Review – Estonia

This song has a retro energy that is catchy without being annoying. Jüri Pootsmann, has a mature male energy that’ll fit right in on the Eurovision 2016 stage. I don’t know if this will stand out in the semis enough to make it to the finals. This is one of those strong acts that I’ll be sad to let go in the semis.

Jüri’s vocals are clean and confident. I prefer this to Estonia’s entry last year and that was able to get some love from our Eurovision family. At only 21 years old, Jüri is going head to head with Sergey and Douwe Bob who have more momentum around them. The on-stage performance could read boring to some but that doesn’t take away from the fact that the song is strong.

The song was written for Jüri by Stig Rästa (Goodbye to Yesterday), Vallo Kikas and Fred Krieger each of whom should pat themselves on the back.

Can Jüri make it to the finals?
