There are talks at the national broadcaster of North Macedonia, MRT, about how they are going to find their next representative. This country was not present in the contest of 2023, and competed for the last time in 2022.
Developments
In an interview MRT Program Council, Smilka Janeska Sarkanjac, mentioned that Eurovision 2024 is part of the proposed program of MRT in 2024.
During the talks there was also mentioned to bring back the Skopje Festival to decide who is going to represent the country, but on the other hand it was mentioned that organizing such a festival cannot be done because of lack of time.
The reason for the return is to keep on putting North Macedonia on the map again, and since Eurovision is one of the ways to do so, the country is willing to spend a part of their media budget on the contest.
Eurovision 2023
In 2023 North Macedonia was not present in the contest, because of financial reasons. Before that time the country competed in every contest since 2004. In 2024 North Macedonia will make its return.
The last time North Macedonia competed
The last time North Macedonia competed was in the contest of 2022 in Turin (Italy). The country was represented by Andrea with the song “Circles”. Andrea did not make it into the Grand Final, as she ended in 11th place (of 18) in the Second Semi-final.
