AVRO has confirmed today participation at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2017. This will be the 15th participation of The Netherlands at the children competition having taken part in every edition since the beginning, along with Belarus.

The official confirmation took place earlier today via Instagram, where the broadcaster has encouraged children aged 9-14 to stay tuned to Instagram and YouTube as the submission period will be open shortly:

Four countries have clearly confirmed participation at Junior Eurovision 2017 with the Cypriot confirmation still uncertain, as they released a statement before the 2016 competition. Junior Eurovision 2016 was won by Georgia, which is also expected to take part at the next year’s edition:

  • Russia
  • Belarus
  • Ireland
  • The Netherlands
  • Georgia
  • Cyprus

Georgia was also offered to host the event, but they haven’t confirmed if they will finally do so. We will have to wait and see whether Junior Eurovision 2017 will take place in Georgia or any other country which had submitted a hosting application.

The trio Kisses represented The Netherlands at Junior Eurovision 2016 with the super catchy tune “Kisses and Dancing”, which gave them an 8th place:
