Netherlands 2024: Just 10 acts still in the running to represent this country

In the Netherlands that there are just 10 acts still in the running to represent the country in the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 in Malmö (Sweden). Quite the achievement, because the Dutch selection committee has received somewhat over 600 entries when the Dutch submission window closed on October 1st 2023.

Rumour has it

Rumour has it, according to Dutch entertainment expert, Aran Bade, that just 10 acts out of 600+ are still in the running to represent the Netherlands in Malmö upcoming May. This news is merely suggestive, and might not be more than a rumour.

600+ entries

No less than 600+ entries were submitted to the Dutch selection committee, which was record-breaking for the Netherlands, and also shows how much the Dutch love Europe and beyond’s greatest music festival.

Who did not make the cut?

In recent days news came out about Dutch artists not making the cut, like The Jordan (formerly known as Caro Emerald), but we will also not see Leonie Meijer, Louisa Janssen, and De Bankzitters in Malmö.

Joost Klein, who is a rapper, but also popular singer Numidia, and musical star April Darby seem to be still in the running to compete for the Netherlands.

When will there be more news?

Supposedly there will be more news somewhere in December, according to the new Dutch Head of Delegation, Twan van de Nieuwenhuijzen. A new addition to the selection process is to perform live in front of the selection committee during an audition round.

Eurovision 2023

In the contest of 2023 in Liverpool (United Kingdom) the Netherlands was represented by Mia Nicolai & Dion Cooper with the song “Burning Daylight”. The duo created a vast and relentless negative media storm in the Netherlands and beyond because during the pre-parties they were not able to keep a note, which resulted in the worst outcome for the Netherlands in eight years, 13th (of 15) in Semi-final 1, thus not making it to the Grand Final.
