Moldova 2023: No less than 33 songs announced for national final

The Moldovan national broadcaster, TRM, has announced its 33 acts for the Moldovan national final, with the name “Etapa Naţională”.

60 songs were submitted to participate in Etapa Naţională, the Moldovan national final. Of these 60 no less than 33 acts were selected. The national auditions will kick-off with live auditions on January 28th 2023 on TV channel Moldova 2 at 14:00 local time.

The 33 particpants of Etapa Naţională can be found below. These acts will compete in the live auditions, which are the first phase of the selection process of Moldova to find their 2023 representative.

Notable names

Three names in the Moldovan national final are notable names, these are:

Sunstroke Project: The duo represented the country on two oaccasions, in 2010 and 2017, of which their second attempt was the most successful one, since they ended 3rd in the Grand Final in Kyiv (Ukraine).

Aliona Moon: This singer represented Moldova in 2013 with the song “O Mie” in Malmö (Sweden), ending in 11th place (of 26) in the Grand Final.

Pasha Parfeny: He competed in 2012 with the song “Lautar“, finishing in 5th place in Semi-final 1, and eventually in 11th place (of 26) in the Grand Final.

Live auditions

The results of the live auditions will derive from a 3-5 person jury. The results will be presented at 19:30 on the same day as the televised live auditions on January 28th 2023 in a show on Moldova 1. Just 10 acts will progress to the Grand Final of Etapa Naţională.

The Grand Final

The Grand Final of Moldova will be on a yet to be decided date between February 25th and March 5th 2023. The Grand Final will be televised on TV Moldova 1 and online. The winner will be selected with a 50% expert jury and 50% public jury.

Eurovision 2022

In the contest of 2022 Moldova was represented by the band Zdob și Zdub and Advahov Brothers with the song “Trenulețul”; this group ended in 8th place in Semi-final 2, and eventually they came in 7th (of 25) in the Grand Final.
