Tonight the Grand Final of the third edition of The Voice Kids Portugal took place and was broadcast live on RTP 1. After a stunning performance, Maria Gil won the show becoming the best youngest voice of the year in the country.
Catarina Furtado, who also hosted the Eurovision Song Contest 2018 in Lisbon, was in charge of announcing the winner. However, RTP has yet to decide whether she will be representing Portugal in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2022 this December, 11th in Yerevan, Armenia.
The Voice kids Portugal
A total of 62 children have participated in this edition of The Voice Kids Portugal, and these are the eight finalists who have competed at today’s Grand Final:

Portugal at Junior Eurovision
Portugal debuted in the fourth edition of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in 2006 and this year will be their 7th appearance in the contest. After a long break since 2008, the country returned in 2017 and has participated in every edition since then, except for 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Last year, Simão Oliveira won The Voice Kids and received the ticket to compete in Junior Eurovision 2021 singing “O Rapaz”. He achieved the country’s best result to date, a 3rd place in the online voting, finishing 11th on the combined result with the jury votes with 101 points.
Junior Eurovision 2022
The Junior Eurovision Song Contest will be held on December 11th 2022, hosted in Karen Demirchyan complex, Yerevan by the Armenian broadcaster ARMTV, after winning the previous edition with Maléna and “Qami qami”. This will make the 20th edition of the contest, and the second to be held in Armenia after choosing the same city and venue of the 2011 edition
