Latvia 2023: One act disqualified from Supernova 2023

The Latvian broadcaster, LTV, has disqualified entrant Saule from the Latvian national final, Supernova 2023.

Saule has been disqualified

The Latvian entrant Saule has been disqualified from the Latvian national final, Supernova 2023. Saule’s song “Finally Happy” was released on December 19th 2021, and one of the rules of Supernova 2023 is that competing songs cannot be released before September 1st 2022. Saule will not be replaced by another entrant, so the number of competing artists will be 14.

The dates of Supernova 2023

Below you can find the dates of Supernova 2023, the Latvian national final:

  • Semi-final: February 4th 2023 – 10 acts will be chosen to move on to the Grand Final.
  • Grand Final: February 11th 2023 – the 2023 Latvian entrant will be chosen.

In both parts of the Latvian national contest the results will be gained by a mix of a professional jury and public voting.

Eurovision 2022

In the Eurovision Song Contest of 2022 Latvia was represented by the band Citi Zēni with the song “Eat Your Salad”. Latvia missed out on the Grand Final of 2022, because they finished 14th in Semi-final 1.
