Junior Eurovision: Wales confirms participation, national final details unveiled

Wales will compete at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2019. Like last year, the next Welsh representative will be selected from an open selection procedure,  “Chwilio am Seren – Junior Eurovision Cymru – Search for a Star”.

All singers and groups up to 6 members aged between 9 and 14 on 24th November need to apply for the national contest until the 18th April 2019 at 22.00 (Local time). Junior Eurovision Cymru will be made up of the following stages:

  1. Open Auditions for all applicants – 24th and 25th April – 5th May in different cities.
  2. Call-back Auditions – 4th and 6th May.
  3. Mentoring stage – The best 20 acts will take part in this stage on 18th May.
  4. Junior Eurovision Cymru Semi-Finals – The 12 qualifiers from the mentoring stage will compete in the semifinals on 29th June.
  5. Junior Eurovision Cymru Final – Six acts will perform in the live final, which will take place on Tuesday 24th September 2019 in Llandudno.

The audience and a professional jury panel will decide who will wave the country’s flag for the second time in Junior Eurovision. Further information about the song selection and the final itself will be revealed in due course.

Wales made its debut at Junior Eurovision 2018 in Minsk. Manw represented her country with the song ‘Perta’, which had been selected internally and performed in three different versions at the national final. She achieved the last place in the contest.

The Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2019 will take place on the 24th of November in Gliwice, Poland.
