TG4 has just revealed a total of 50 acts have made it to the next phase: the final audition!
These 50 acts will be performing their songs in front of a jury panel on July 19 during a live audition held in the Dublin’s Green Isle Hotel. 30 of them will be selected to perform in the live final expected to take place in September. ESC+Plus has got some additional information regarding the selection process:
- The song must be between 90 seconds and 2 minutes long for the purposes of the televised series selecting the Irish entry to the Junior Eurovision Song Contest. The lyrics must be completely in Irish.
- TG4 is looking for the following type of song: “Typically, lively pop songs and ballads that build to an epic conclusion work best for Eurovision competitions. As we’re searching for the song to send to the finals in Bulgaria, we will be looking for songs that not only show off the voice of the performer(s), but also songs that we think will do well in The Junior Eurovision Song Contest.”
- At the audition, the applicants will perform a first draft of their song, ie, this will not be the finished version of the song, but enough to give the broadcaster a good idea of what the song is ultimately going to be.
- Each applicant may bring musicians to accompany their performance and may also play their own musical instrument if they wish.
More information will be revealed soon, stay tuned!
