Changes announced:

A few months ago, RAI revealed some changes for the 68th edition of Sanremo Music Festival. The broadcaster approached record labels to find suitable candidates for the Italian contest, while they also received applications from an open call.

In addition, a few changes will also be introduced in the live shows. In 2018, all 20 candidates will compete at the final night, so none of them won’t be eliminated in the previous shows. The fourth evening will see all entrants perform duet songs with guest artists.

The winner of Sanremo 2018 will be decided by a combination of public televoting, an expert panel and press members.

Sanremo schedule:

Sanremo 2018 will be hosted by Claudio Baglioni, who was also appointed show producer, and a guest host each night. As in previous editions, the Italian Music Festival will be made up of five shows:

  • February 6 – First Night (20 candidates perform their entries)
  • February 7 – Second Night (20 candidates perform their entries)
  • February 8 – Third Night (20 candidates perform their entries)
  • February  9 – Fourth Night (20 candidates perform songs with guest artists)
  • February 10 – Final (20 candidates perform their entries and the winner is revealed)
