ESC+Plus has talked to Valeria Pasa, semifinalist of this year’s Moldovan national selection for Eurovision. Valeria will perform “Save Love” in the first semi-final of “O Melodie Pentru Europa” to take place today.
ESC+Plus: Hello! First of all, thank you so much for your time and congratulations on having been selected to take part in the Moldavian national selection for Eurovision 2016!
Can you tell us about you, your musical career and important achievements?
I started to sing at 7 years old and I have participated in many musical competitions from early age, national and international contests from Romania, Ukraine and Belarus like “Slaveanskii bazar”. Also I participated last year at national selection of Eurovision and I was on the second place with song “I can change all my life”.
E+: What impelled you to take part in “O Melodie Pentru Europa 2016”?
It is a contest where you can share the song and a message for the whole world (if you win) because at the moment it is one of the most important musical contests. It’s a great opportunity for me to take part in it, because I have a good song and would like to share it with others.
E+: How did you feel when you knew you had qualified for the semi-finals? Did you expect it?
Surely I expected it and I was really happy because it is one of my dreams to sing on the Eurovision stage and to be involved in such a great competition.
E+: What would it mean for you to represent Moldova?
I would be extremely happy if I represent my country, last year I was very close to victory, but life is life and I will try once again. 🙂
E+: Can you tell us about your song? What is the story behind the lyrics?
My song is called “Save love”, it has a positive message even the melody is very bright and the lyrics too. It is said about kindness, tenderness and pure love. I sing about this feeling of love and being loved.
E+: Why do you think your song has to be selected for Stockholm? What are you strengths to reach the top in the competition?
I trust myself and my song that’s why I decided to be in. I think my song can be a good choice, because it has a clear message and I want to render it. Also the song “Save love” is in some tops and has good reviews and I enjoy that.
E+: How are you preparing your stage performance for “O Melodie Pentru Europa 2016”?
We are doing a lot of rehearsals, I will be on the stage with 3 girls which will be in backing vocal. Together we will make a good show and I think people will like it and vote for us.
E+: Do you usually watch Eurovision? What are your favorite songs in the history of the competition?
I’m a huge fun of Eurovision and every time I watch it with pleasure. I liked Emmelie de Forest, Lena and Mans Zelmerlow. They were my favorite.
E+: If you could choose a Eurovision former participant to sing along with, who would it be?
I think Mans Zelmerlow would be, he’s really good! 🙂
E+: Besides Eurovision, what are your plans for this year?
I would like to take part in other musical projects and to release good songs. These are my goals for this year.
