Interview Eurovision Eurovision 2016 Sweden

Sweden: Talking to Mariette, a Melodifestivalen 2015 favourite! (Exclusive video interview)

When thinking about who should represent Sweden at Eurovision 2016, her name is always mentioned. Mariette Hansson of Swedish Idol fame, reemerged in last years Melfest with Don’t Stop Believing. Written by Miss Li and Sonny Gustafsson, the song finished in third place. A personal favorite of mine, the song is a pop anthem very much so in with the times. She followed up her Melfest stint by releasing an EP, that included the official song for Stockholm Pride– My Revolution.

I was privileged to get the opportunity to interview the My Revolution singer when I traveled to Sweden. We talk about why she loves creating music, touring, and of course Melodifestivalen. She even challenged me to a Tequila shot race– talented AND fun! With Peter Gabriel as one of her biggest inspirations, you can imagine that she’s pretty creative musically. She even opened for Roxette this summer!

When asked if she’d participate in Melfest again, Mariette responded:

It was just crazy fun being a part of Melodifestivalen. I would for sure do it again– if I had the right song. I don’t have the right song at the moment, but I’m kind of working on it… I will not say never. Maybe as a songwriter? Or an artist? I don’t know yet…

I’d love to see Mariette at Melodifestivalen 2016. Who knows if she’ll end up throwing her hat in the ring for 2016, but she definitely has my vote.

Who do you want to see at Melodifestivalen 2016? Let us know in the comments!
