ESC+Plus has talked to Simone, runner up of DMGP 2013 and finalist of this year’s Danish national selection for Eurovision. Simone will perform “Heart Shaped Hole” in the final set on February 13.

ESC+Plus: Hello! First of all, thank you so much for your time and congratulations on having been selected to take part in the Danish national selection for Eurovision 2016!

E+: Can you tell us about you, your musical career and important achievements?

Well my name is Simone I’m 24 years old. I’ve had a professional career since I was 12 years old. I won a television show called ‘The Stage is Yours’ in 2004. I have recorded 4 albums. The last 12 years I’ve been on almost all stages in Denmark with national and international artists and singers.

E+: What impelled you to take part in “DMGP 2016”?

I got contacted by DR and was asked if I wanted to perform ‘Heart Shaped Hole’. I had goosebumps all over, and then I knew that was the right song.

E+: What it would mean for you to represent Denmark?

It would mean a lot to represent Denmark in the Eurovision Song Contest. To perform at ESC has always been a big dream of mine.

E+: Can you tell us about your song? What is the story behind the lyrics?

‘Heart Shaped Hole’ is about being strong, making difficult decisions. And that there is always light at the end of the tunnel.

E+: Why do you think your song has to be selected for Stockholm? What are you strengths to reach the top in the competition?

I think my song has an unique and spectacular sound and it also has a very international sound, which makes it a strong candidate.

E+: Have you started to prepare your stage performance for “DMGP 2016”?

Yes – and I promise you it is going to be full of effects and emotions.

E+: How do you remember your previous attempts at “DMGP”?

2010 – it was a huge experience. And I got an amazing welcome in the DMGP universe. I performed with a big ballade ‘How will I know’ and made it to the semifinal

2013 – Another fantastic experience. This time my song ‘Stay awake’ was full of fun and rhythm. I had a blast. And again I made it to the semifinal.

E+: Do you usually watch Eurovision? What are your favorite songs in the history of the competition?

I have watch Eurovision as long as I can remember. My favorites songs of the ESC is 2005 where Greece won with ‘My Number One’ and 2012 where Sweden/Loreen won with ‘Euphoria’.

E+: If you could choose a Eurovision former participant to sing along with, who would it be?

Loreen or Måns 🙂

E+: Besides Eurovision, what are your plans for this year?

New music and hopefully a lot of concerts national and international.

E+: Finally, can you send a message for our readers and Eurovision fans?

Thank you so much for reading this. I hope to see you all at the ESC 2016 in Stockholm.
