ESC+Plus has talked to Orry Jackson, finalist of this year’s Austrian national selection for Eurovision 2016. Orry will perform “Pieces in a Puzzle” in the “Wer Singt für Österreich” final set on February 12.

ESC+Plus: Hello! First of all, thank you so much for your time and congratulations on having been selected to take part in the Austrian national selection for Eurovision 2016!
Can you tell us about you, your musical career and important achievements?
I started at a young age.. I used to stand on stage with my sister when I was 5 years old.. We sang songs from the Kelly family haha.. So I have been actually singing my whole life. I have got the chance to perform on a couple of tv shows and a bunch of concerts… I even sang with the Germany’s biggest artist called Xavier Naidoo… That was awesome!
E+: What impelled you to take part in “Wer singt für Österreich 2016”?
Actually, I didn’t plan to apply for the contest! I was just working on my tracks and hanging around in the studio.. Then we went through pieces in a puzzle.. I turned it louder.. and I had a vision of myself singing and performing it at the ESC!! Cos This song has a message…
E+: How did you feel when you knew you had qualified for the final? Did you expect it?
Oh it was crazy! My producer and me were in the studio again working on my album.. And all of a sudden the call came.. And we just got maaaad.. We were screaming and all kind of things haha.. Of course we went to a bar, too haha
E+: What it would mean for you to represent Austria?
Well, I’m proud of having been! But representing Austria would mean so much to me! Look .. Austria never let me down… So it really would be an honor to represent and give my best for this country!
E+: Can you tell us about your song? What is the story behind the lyrics?
Pieces in a Puzzle is about Teamwork. I always use to say : teamwork makes the dream work… And that’s exactly how it is.. No matter if it’s me and my team.. If it’s a football team.. If it’s a village, a nation or the whole world! You’re always stronger in a team that holds together!
E+: Why do you think your song has to be selected for Stockholm? What are you strengths to reach the top in the competition?
I think my song has an international quality.. Talking about production – talking about lyrics – talking about genre… I will do something special on stage.. My strength is making the people watch me while I’m performing.. Making them watch me the whole 3 minutes and give them a nice enjoyable feeling 🙂
E+: Have you started to prepare your stage performance for “Wer singt für Österreich 2016”?
Oh yeah sure! We are trying to be creative.. And we will.. But I don’t wanna tell you a lot about it right now haha.. It’s gonna be nice:)
E+: Do you usually watch Eurovision? What are your favourite songs in the history of the competition?
Sure! I always do.. Actually, my favourite song of the last editions was euphoria.. I really loved that song and I can even listen to it now!
E+: If you could choose a Eurovision former participant to sing with, who would it be?
Mhhh… Not sure… But I guess I would go for Conchita… She’s just amazing!
E+: Besides Eurovision, what are your plans for this year?
Just a couple of months ago, I signed with universal music and my album will be released this year, no matter what happens on the 12th of February haha .. So I’m really lucky to have a great team behind me.. Hm.. But I will be singing in German.. And I love it.. International sounds with German vocals! Just love it!! Haha

But i really dunno if we will win & be the one that will represent Austria in Stockholm’s Vision.
