Interview Eurovision Eurovision 2015 Israel

Nadav Guedj: “Me and my team are planning to rock the Eurovision stage” (Israel 2015 – Exclusive Interview)

ESC+Plus has had the chance to have a little talk with the young Israeli star. The 16 year-old Nadav Guedj will represent his home country at Eurovision 2015 after winning the talent show “Rising Star”.

Check what he has told us below:

ESC+Plus: Hello Nadav! First of all thank you so much for giving us this interview as Israeli representative at Eurovision 2015 and congratulations on having won “HaKokhav HaBa” (Rising Star)!

It’s my pleasure! 🙂

E+: How did you feel when you were named the winner of “HaKokhav HaBa” getting the right to represent your country in Vienna? What does representing Israel at Eurovision mean for you?

Winning “Hakochav Haba” was followed by a mix of emotions ranging from euphoria to disbelief and now I just really do feel proud that I’ll be representing Israel in the Eurovision song contest.

E+: Can you tell us about your song “Golden Buy” and the story behind the lyrics? How was the composition procedure?

“Golden boy” is all about a broken-hearted young guy who decides to get out of his bad mood by taking a break of three minutes and letting himself loose.

E+: How are you going to prepare your Eurovision performance? Have you thought about the staging you would like to show us in Vienna?

Well, you’ll just have to wait and see for yourselves but I can assure you we are planning to rock the stage. I am working with an amazing team that includes the director of “Hakochav Haba” Yoav Tzafir, the Dj and producer Yinon Yahel, the choreographer Claude Dadia, the songwriter Doron Medalie and Creative director Elad Weissman.

E+: You premiered your song through an official video. How was the shooting of the clip? Any funny anecdote you can share with us?

The Music video was produced by a special team from “Teddy productions” and it was filmed in different locations in the city of Tel Aviv. Part of the shooting was during Purim – the Jewish holiday when, traditionally, everybody wears costumes. We had a blast shooting in the middle of an urban Purim rave with 60,000 participants.

E+: Tell us what can Eurovision contribute to your musical career? What are your expectations?

I hope to bring a fresh combination of European-Mediterranean sounds and influences to the contest. I really hope everyone would like it.

E+: You are one of the youngest contestants of Eurovision 2015, does this fact make a big impact on you?

I know I’m blessed. Being only 16 years old I was given a chance of a lifetime to pursuit music, visit new places and meet so many different interesting people. This is why I’m super focused on the contest and practically spend every hour I get to prepare for the stage performance.

E+: Do you usually watch Eurovision? What are your favourite songs in the history of the competition? What are your main strengths?

While I grew up in Israel, I remember feeling excited about the competition and watching it every year. As I grew older and became a teenager, I found myself searching and listening to so many different kinds of music so I kind of lost track of the competition. This is the reason why I’m so blown away by the production and scale of the contest. I am so happy to be part of it.

E+: Have you met any previous Israeli representative? If yes, has she/he given you any advice?

Not yet =).

E+: Can you tell us about your musical career? What are the most important achievements you have reached until the date?

Dude, I’m only 16 years old =) I’ve only just made my first steps in the music industry.

E+: Besides Eurovision, what are your plans for this year?

I’m super focused on the contest and practically spend every hour I get to prepare for the stage performance.

E+: What do you do in your free time? Do you have any favourite hobby?

I love to get inspired by a wide range of genres and different kinds of music so I always listen to so many artists. I spend hours in front of my PC in search for new music.

E+: If you could be invisible for one day, what would you do?

I actually don’t have an hour for myself. I work day and night to get the performance on spot. I work on my dance moves, vocals and stage performance as much as I take time for doing interviews and participating in media events and promotion concerts. Being invisible for one day and taking a day off sounds perfect =).

E+: Can you send a message for our readers?

I feel that the Eurovision competition is all about celebrating diversity and culture through music. I Hope to Dance together with all my European brothers and sisters

E+: Thank you very much, good luck and see you in Vienna!

Thank you! Hope to see you all in Vienna.

Nadav Gudej will perform the song “Golden Boy”, composed by Doron Medalie, in the second semi-final set on May 21.
