Interview Eurovision Eurovision 2016 Sweden

Krista Siegfrids: “Faller is an energetic pop song in Swedish about when you are falling in love” (Swedish semifinalist – Exclusive Interview)

ESC+Plus has talked to Krista Siegfrids, Finnish representative at Eurovision 2013 and semifinalist of this year’s Swedish national selection for Eurovision. Krista will perform “Faller” in the second Melodifestivalen semi-final set on February 13.

ESC+Plus: Hello! First of all, thank you so much for your time and congratulations on having been selected to take part in the Swedish national selection for Eurovision 2016!

E+: Can you tell us about you, your musical career and important achievements?

I’ve been a singer in different bands and I’ve done musical roles. But I got my big breakthrough in 2013 when I won the Finnish esc selection and represented Finland in Eurovision. Since then I’ve released 1 album + 3 singles, I’ve been touring in Finland but also in Europe. I’ve been a coach in The Voice Kids for 2 seasons and done a lot of Tv shows. My next big thing is to host Umk and to participate in Melodifestivalen in February.

E+: What impelled you to take part in “Melodifestivalen 2016”?

I love Melodifestivalen and it’s always been a dream to participate! 🙂

E+: How did you feel when you knew you had qualified for the semifinal? Did you expect it?

No, I didn’t expect it. It was a VERY nice surprise! I’m so happy!

E+: What it would mean for you to represent Sweden?

The important thing is not to win Mello, I just wanna participate and work more in Sweden and I’m very excited to see where this adventure will take me.

E+: Can you tell us about your song? What is the story behind the lyrics?

The song is called “Faller”. It’s in Swedish and it’s an energetic pop song. It’s about that feeling when you are falling in love with somebody.

E+: Why do you think your song has to be selected for Stockholm? What are you strengths to reach the top in the competition?

I think it’s a great song and I hope the swedish people will like it. It sticks in your head! The show and the choreography is really nice. It’s gonna be a good-looking number.

E+: If you win the contest, would you prefer to sing in Swedish or in English at Eurovision?

I haven’t thought about that. Let’s take one step at the time… Haha!

E+: Have you started to prepare your stage performance for “Melodifestivalen 2016”?

Yes, it’s gonna be a nice show! I promise!

E+: How do you remember your participation in Eurovision 2013 with “Marry Me”? Would you like to represent Finland again in the future?

I loved every second of it! It was the funniest experience ever! Never say´never… 😉

E+: This year, you will also be one of the hosts of UMK, the Finnish selection for Eurovision. How will you get the needed time to host the show and compete in Melodifestivalen almost at the same time?

I have a really tight schedule… But we have thought about everything and it’s under control. Hopefully everything will go alright!

E+: Besides Eurovision, what are your plans for this year?

Well, we will see what happens in Mello. My dream is to work more in Sweden. But whatever happens I’ll be touring in Finland and I’ll definitely release an album.

E+: Finally, can you send a message for our readers and Eurovision fans?

Hugs and kisses to everybody! I wish you all a fantastic spring! 🙂

E+: Thank you for your time and good luck!
