Interview Exclusives Sweden

Julia: ”My song is composed by Thomas G:sson, I wrote the lyrics” (Exclusive Interview)

The Junior Eurovision 2014 season is here and we start our round of interviews with Sweden!

Julia Kedhammar won Lilla Melodifestivalen 2014 a month ago getting the right to represent her country at Junior Eurovision 2014. ESC+Plus has had the opportunity to meet her a little bit before the contest, find out what she has told us below:

E+: Hello Julia! First of all, congratulations on having been the winner of Lilla Melodifestivalen 2014!

Hello! Thank you so much!

E+: How did you feel when you were named as the Lilla Melodifestivalen 2014 winner? Did you expect such an awesome moment?

The seconds before that moment were the most nervous seconds of my life, everyone was so good but shaking. The most important for me was not only winning the whole competition, it was also learning new things, meeting new friends and having a great time with what I´m living for. When I heard my name I started crying happy tears because of happiness and because my nervous turned into relax and happiness, it was very emotional.

I did not expect that I would win, everybody was so talented and if I could decide I would let all of them win too! The other contestants were so nice to me when I won, just like real friends; all of them are amazing. All my friends and family in the audience were so happy for me too, and it meant very much for me.

The whole Lilla Melodifestivalen journey is the best thing I have experienced in my life! I had tried for the Lilla Melodifestivalen twice before but, this time, I came to the final and won! That is a proof to never give up and the fact that I actually won… is just a huge bonus!

E+: How did you prepare your performance at Lilla Melodifestivalen? How did you spend the weeks before the final?

I prepared my performance rehearsing on my own and also with my dancers, we had fun at the same time.

The days before the grand final I got ill, I got sore throat and lost my voice. I also caught a cold like three days before the final, it was a nightmare! I drank so much tea, more than in my whole life, with chilli and ginger and we searched on internet natural tips to cure a cold as fast as possible. I got pretty well to the final, so I was lucky :).

I also took a pause from the rehearsals and hung out with my friends and family. I thought about them all the time… All the time! But thinking about the day all the contestants would go back to home was so sad… :(, we decided to see each other again!

E+: What do you feel while singing on stage?

Joy, happiness, love and only positive thoughts go trough my head while I am on stage. Performing in front of an audience makes me happy, no matter if its raining or if its sunny, a big stage or a small one, a big or a small audience… I love it! I can express my feelings, thoughts and all I want to say through the music. I want all people to catch my message and see how happy the music makes me.

E+: What’s your song about? Did you write it by yourself? Who helped you to revamp the song for the contest?

My song is about the thoughts everybody have to fit in and accept. I wrote the lyrics and the music is composed by Thomas G:sson, the face behind Euphoria (Eurovision 2012 winning entry).

E+: Will you revamp the song for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest or you will keep the Lilla Melodifestivalen version?

The song may be revamped a little bit but we will see.

E+: Have you thought of shooting an official video clip in order to introduce your song?

Yes I have thought of making a video! Swedish television will probably make a video in Malta.

E+: It is too soon but have you already decided about how your stage performance will look like? And the costume you will be wearing?

No, I haven’t decided how my performance on stage will look like yet but I have four awesome dancers.

E+: Do you usually watch senior Melodifestivalen? Do you have any favourite participant? Do you see yourself in the competition in the future?

I always watch senior Melodifestivalen. My this year’s favourite was Ace Wilder with her song ”Busy doing nothing”. I would like to participate in the future!

E+: If you had the chance, which singer would you choose to sing a duet with?

I would like to sing a duet with Bruno Mars or Beyoncé, they are awesome!

E+: What do you expect from your Junior Eurovision experience? What do you think it will mean for your musical career?

I expect to show the world what I love, fun and new friends who have the same interests as me! I don’t know what it will mean for my musical career, but there will be a lot of people from other countries seeing me, so maybe I can go there and have tour?

E+: Tell us more about yourself, your favourite music style, favourite school subject, hobbies, musical career….

My name is Julia Maria Linnéa Kedhammar. I am 14 years old and live in a Stockholm’s suburb with my mom, my dad, my little sister and my cat. I like playing soccer, singing, dancing, writing songs and hanging out with my friends and family. My favourite school subject is music, I also like foreign language – Spanish and PE. Apart from the school, I go to a school of arts with music (vocal, dance and theatre lessons) as main subject.

E+: If you could be invisible for a day what would you do?

If I was invisible for one day I would make funny pranks, I love to do that, haha 🙂

E+: Can you send a message for our readers and Junior Eurovision fans?

I am really looking forward to Malta! I am going to sing a modern pop song with a cool dance tune and I hope everybody has a great time there!

Hugs from Sweden!

Julia

E+: Thank you very much for your time and see you in Malta!

Julia Kedhammar will represent Sweden at Junior Eurovision 2014, she will perform the song “Du är inte Ensam” composed by herself and Thomas G:sson.
