Il Volo: “We met in an Italian talent show and, since then, we are as brothers” (Italy 2015 – Exclusive Interview)

ESC+Plus has exclusively talked to “Il Volo”, the trio which will represent Italy at Eurovision 2015 after winning the legendary “Festival di Sanremo”!

Hello guys! First of all thank you so much for giving us this interview as Italian representatives at
Eurovision 2015 and congratulations on having won the “Festival di Sanremo” 2015!

ESC+Plus: How did you feel when you were named the winners of “Sanremo” getting the right to represent your country at Eurovision? Why did you accept the challenge to wave the Italian flag in Vienna?

For us it is great honor to represent Italy at the Eurovision. We have agreed to participate in Eurovision because for us it will be the best way to return to the European market after a couple of years.

E+: Why did you decide to take part in “Sanremo” 2015? Why did you choose “Grande Amore” to compete and not any other entry? Was it special for you?

We decided to participate in Sanremo because during our years of career, we spent much time all around the world, many Italians still do not know us and this year we decided to devote time to our country which we are in love with.

 

E+: Can you tell us about your song “Grande Amore” and the story behind the lyrics? How was the composition procedure?

The song speaks of a Great Love universal love, not only between two persons in love. It is a way to send our message of love to the world, even our Pope Francis often says that today we need peace and love. We try to do our small part through the music.

E+: Have you thought about releasing an English version or record the song in any other language?

It is not in our plans yet, but we’ll definitely do some other versions in the future.

E+: How are you going to prepare your Eurovision performance? Have you thought about the staging you would like to show us in Vienna?

The best way to deal with stages it is always being yourself.

E+: A few weeks ago, you released an official preview video which already has millions of viewers. How was the shooting of the clip? Any funny anecdote you can share with us?

We are really happy that the video, in a few days, has reached millions of views. It was really funny making that video because it was our first filming experience.

E+: Do you have any plans to travel abroad and promote your song in other participating countries as the Amsterdam’s Eurovision in Concert?

We are ready to live a lot of experiences. We hardly ever miss big occasions.

E+: Tell us what can you contribute to Eurovision? What are your expectations for the contest?

It will definitely be a great experience and we will do our best to represent Italy in the best possible way.

 

E+: You are among the favourites to win Eurovision 2015, how do you feel about this fact?

We have no influence from comments and reviews. We will go there with the aim to have fun and entertain people.

E+: How did you meet each other? Can tell us about the history of Il Volo as a trio?

We met in an Italian talent show. We introduced ourselves as individual singers and but we did not know each other until the fourth episode, when the producers decided to join our voices. Since then, we are as brothers.

E+: What do you do in your free time? Do you usually go out together?

In our free time we go back to our home towns to spend time with our families.

E+: Do you usually watch Eurovision? What are your favourite songs in the history of the competition?

We love Conchita’s song, it was good to meet her in Sanremo.

E+: Can you send a message for our readers?

The message is for all guys who want to reach a dream. Never give up and never stop dreaming!
