ESC+Plus has talked to Filipe Gonçalves, participant of the Portuguese national selection for Eurovision 2015 “Festival da Canção”. Filipe will sing “Dança Joana” in the second semi-final to take place today.

E+: Can you tell us about you, your musical evolution and important achievements?
Well in 2003 I became one of the winners from Operação Triunfo and I started my musical career there!
Then I’ve been working solo but also doing some colaborations with many important artists.
I have 4 albums (Na cor de cada coisa 2003, Elo mais forte – 2007, De volta ao tempo do vinil 2010,Radio10 2015). The last one I’m still finishing it but I will release the 2nd single this month.
E+: Why did you decide to take part in the Portuguese national selection 2015?
I decided to be part this year because of the way the organisation invited me.
They wanted to do things differently , they invited a strong group of composers and singers to be part of the 50th festival, and that’s a special number.
I’m working with my actual producer and friend Heber so we decided to accept this big challenge this year!
E+: What it would mean for you to represent Portugal in Vienna?
It would mean a great achievement for my career !
E+: Can you tell us about your song “Dança Joana” and the story behind the lyrics?
“Dança joana” is about love and all that moves us is love in many diferent ways! In this song, we talk about that love that stops your heart and freezes you ,and gives us those butterflies in our belly 😉 It talks about that contagious feeling that everyone seeks and talk about!
E+: What are your main strengths so as to get the needed support to reach Eurovision?
The message and the vibe that you put in your performance and song, I want to connect with many people as possible, and make them happy and ready to share that love right back at me 🙂
E+: What can this competition contribute to your musical career?
This competition will show and share my ID as an artist to another type of audience!
E+: Do you usually watch Eurovision? Do you have any favorite song in the history of the contest?
I used to watch it more like 15 years ago but my favorite song is an old portuguese song that I love, “E depois do adeus” .
E+: What is your favourite music style? Do you have any favorite singer?
My favorite style is the one who as soul in it 😉 I have 30 favorite singers, but I can tell you that one of them is my producer and friend Héber Marques!
E+: Besides Eurovision, what are your plans for this year?
This year I want to release 2 albums (one live and other standard) both with the same name and concept (RADIO10) and do some important featuring.
E+: Finally, would you like to send a message for our readers?
Yes , I would like to have them near my work and sharing the same love we have for music! I feel more complete when someone’s touched with my work!! Be happy and Smile!!
