Interview Eurovision Eurovision 2015 Finland

Eeverest: “There are a lot of metaphors in our song’s lyrics” (Finnish participants – Interview)

ESC+Plus has talked to Eeverest, participants of the Finnish national selection for Eurovision 2015 “UMK”. The band will sing “Love It All Away” in the second semi-final to take place tonight.

ESC+Plus: Hello! First of all, congratulations on having been selected to compete at the Finish selection for Eurovision 2015.

Hello and thank you!

E+: Can you tell us about your musical evolution and important achievements?

Ida is our vocalist and quite amazing one to be honest because she’s only 16 years old and already so professional! Niko is the 20-year-old DJ who does all the magic that comes to delivering the freshest sounds and our oldest is Marcus who is 31 and mainly responsible for writing the songs.Eeverest was born somewhere in April 2014 and so this far our most important achievement has been getting in the UMK and hearing all the awesome feedback from music industry professionals and of course fans!

E+: Why did you decide to take part in “UMK 2015”?

The decision was easy because we want people to hear our music and UMK is a great opportunity to get very large exposure. It’s a once in a lifetime thing and this far it has been amazing.

E+: What it would mean for you to represent Finland in Vienna?

We would be very honored to represent our country. And for us personally it would mean a lot to show that Finland can deliver quality EDM!

E+: Your song is called “Love It All Away”. Can you tell us about the song and the story behind the lyrics?

Even though the song is in minor key the actual message of the song is positive. There are a lot of metaphors in the lyrics like “Under pressure we don’t know who we are / A bunch of strangers hypnotized by the city lights” We all have hard times in our life and it feels like you’re completely lost but despite all the difficulties you shouldn’t give up. You should try to love it all away and try to look at life in a positive way.

E+: How was the composition procedure?

First Marcus came up with the idea of the song and made a piano demo for Ida. We all knew that now we had something special in our hands and then Niko started working with the sounds. We sent the demo to UMK and once we got chosen we little bit spiced up the song and recorded proper vocals. We got help from Antti Riihimäki aka RZY with the production.

E+: How are you preparing your UMK performance? Can you reveal us anything about it?

We are going to gym and trying to stay healthy because all the preparations for the show takes a lot of energy. Now that we have seen the first semifinal we can only say that our show is quite different from the ones seen but we can’t reveal too much! You have to watch it live 🙂

E+: What are your main strengths so as to get the people support to reach Eurovision?

Main strength could be that we are ourselves in the competition, friends having fun and enjoying the music!

E+: Do you usually watch Eurovision? What is your favorite song in the history of the competition?

We have watched it every year and our favorite song is Loreen’s Euphoria!

E+: Do you have any favourite song among the other UMK participants?

Lots of great songs but the really special ones for us are Shava, Jouni Aslak and Otto Ivar.

E+: Besides Eurovision, what are your goals for this year?

We aim to release new music and reach new fans. Lots of work the be done and lots of great songs to reveal! With Love It All Away were just scratching the surface 🙂

E+: Finally, would you like to send a message for our readers?

It’s been a pleasure to be a part of UMK and to get to meet new people and we want to welcome all of you to come and say hi to us in twitter and Facebook. Hope to see you all in Wien!
