DoReDoS: “FunnyFolk is a mix of different styles but the basis is the national instruments” (Moldovan semifinalists – Exclusive Interview)

ESC+Plus has talked to DoReDoS, semifinalists of this year’s Moldovan national selection for Eurovision, “O Melodie Pentru Europa 2016”. The band will perform “FunnyFolk” in the first semi-final to take place on February 23.

ESC+Plus: Hello! First of all, thank you so much for your time and congratulations on having been selected to take part in the Moldavian national selection for Eurovision 2016!

Can you tell us about you, your musical career and important achievements?

DoReDoS career began 4 years ago. DoReDoS this is three different persons – Marina, Eugen and Sergey. We are united by the love of music and faith in a beautiful future. In 2014 on the international contest “George Grigoriu” in Romania, we won the main prize of the new BMW Series 1. And from this moment , began another life for us, for DoReDoS. a few weeks after that, we met with Pasha Parfeni and started our cooperation. And we decided to participate in the national preselection of Eurovision Song Contest with song Maricica.

E+: What impelled you to take part in “O Melodie Pentru Europa 2016”?

The decision once again to participate in the national selection of Eurovision was made immediately after we have listened to the song. The song has that is necessary. “FunnyFolk” has a good mood, national character and national musical instruments and of course – love. Love for one’s country and to the beautiful Moldovan women.

E+: How did you feel when you knew you had qualified for the semi-finals? Did you expect it?

We are feel great, really good because we believed that gonna get in the semi-final, and we believe that we will be in the final and of course we believe that we can win!

E+: What it would mean for you to represent Moldova?

For DoReDoS represent Moldova on the international Eurovision Song Contest is a big dream and pride, and of course a big responsibility.

E+: Can you tell us about your song? What is the story behind the lyrics?

We sing in the style pop folk, FunnyFolk a mix of different styles of songs but the basis is the national instruments. Lyrics song that perfectly complemented song and can represent the country at the contest and briefly tell about Moldova

E+: Why do you think your song has to be selected for Stockholm? What are you strengths to reach the top in the competition?

Our song can short talk about Moldova’s beauty. We think that we can be the first. We give this competition a lot of time and effort and we have a great desire to be the first and best. DoReDoS need to have a little bit of luck and we think this is all what need for winner.

E+: Have you started to prepare your stage performance for “O Melodie Pentru Europa 2016”?

Oh sure, But in an interview hard to describe what will happen on stage.

E+: Do you usually watch Eurovision? What are your favourite songs in the history of the competition?

ABBA «Waterloo Loreen – Euphoria, Dima Bilan – believe, Guy Sebastian- tonight again, Il Volo- grande amore and of course zdob si zdub bunica -bate doba and more…..

E+: If you could choose a Eurovision former participant to sing along with, who would it be?

Oh this is very hard question because on Eurovision was a lot of great musicians and songs. We would be very happy to sing with someone of them.

E+: Besides Eurovision, what are your plans for this year?

We have a couple of songs that we want to release after Eurovision and we have plans to record their first album.
