ESC+Plus has talked to Dominic, semifinalist of the Maltese national selection for Eurovision 2016. After being selected to compete in the live shows, the singer will perform the song “Fire Burn”.
ESC+Plus: Hello! First of all, thank you so much for your time and congratulations on having been selected to take part in the Maltese national selection for Eurovision 2016!
E+: Can you tell us about you, your musical career and important achievements?
My most memorable achievements were taking part in Johnny Logan’s Concert held in Malta as a backing vocalist and in 2013 I won 1st 2nd and 3rd as a composer in a local prestigious festival called “Festival Indipendenza”
E+: What impelled you to take part in “Malta Eurovision Song Contest 2016”?
Although I participated in last year’s edition it is still a great journey for me as I enjoy meeting new people . Also as I am a music producer this helps to gain more experiences so that I can improve my work .
E+: How did you feel when you knew you had qualified for the semi-final? Did you expect it?
I am thrilled to be a finalist as I really love Eurovision . Although I strongly believed in my song from day 1.
E+: What it would mean for you to represent Malta?
I would be a great responsibility and an honour that the Maltese People have faith in me.
E+: Can you tell us about your song? What is the story behind the lyrics?
Fire Burn talks about someone who is in love , truly believes that his other half is feeling the same. Fire here represent flames of love and happiness. This song has a positive upbeat song which motivate those in love never to give up hope by allowing their fire within to burn with passion and enthusiasm .
E+: Why do you think your song has to be selected for Stockholm? What are your strengths to reach the top in the competition?
It is a commercial song, with a very catchy chorus to sing along with .
E+: How are you preparing your performance for “MESC 2016”? Can you reveal us anything about the staging?
We are a very dedicated team . We work hard on our stage performance. We are doing our very best especially choreography wise as it is a challenge for me.. You are definitely going lo love the final product of this song
E+: Do you usually watch Eurovision? What are your favourite songs of the history of the competition?
Yes I watch Eurovision every year .
E+: If you could choose a Eurovision former participant to sing with, who would it be?
Dima Bilan – Believe
E+: Besides Eurovision, what are your plans for this year?
As a music producer I will be writing more songs .

Nothing special & an ordinary dull song…Definitely not NF winner material let along a winner material song in Eurovision..
I do not see this song winning in Maltese NF in few days…Maybe it won’t even qualify from the SF..
I do not even remember his song of last year’s NF..
By the way,his facial expression in the cardpostal of his video looks hella annoying & definitely doesn’t represent the theme of his song that its about a love story!
There is no fire at all in this bland weak song..
