Interview Eurovision Eurovision 2017 Sweden

Dismissed: “Our performance will be colorful and energetic” (Swedish semifinalists – Interview)

ESC+Plus has talked to Dismissed, semifinalists of this year’s Swedish national selection for Eurovision. The band will perform “Hearts align”, composed by Ola Salo (Sweden 2007) and Peter Kvint, in the second semi-final of Melodifestivalen 2017 set to take place on February 11th.

ESC+Plus: Hello! First of all, thank you so much for your time and congratulations on having been selected to take part in the Swedish national selection for Eurovision 2017!

Can you tell us about you, your musical career and important achievements?

Dismissed: We`ve played together for a couple of years, primarily on several pride festivals and in the Gothenburg underground scene. We´ve achieved to expand people’s views of sexuality and prejudices by live shows and daring music videos.

ESC+Plus: What impelled you to take part in “Melodifestivalen 2017”?

Dismissed: It was the record company (Gain) that presented the idea of our participation in “Melodifestivalen” and we thought it was a good way to reach the bigger crowds.

ESC+Plus: How did you feel when you knew you had qualified for the semi-final? Did you expect it?

Dismissed: We felt excited and happy! Of course we expected it!

ESC+Plus: What would it mean to you to represent Sweden?

Dismissed: We represent every norm breaking person and if Sweden wants to stand behind our cause it´s amazing.

ESC+Plus: Can you tell us about your song? What is the story behind the lyrics?

Dismissed: It´s about coming together for a greater cause. If there is a story, Ola Salo has it.

ESC+Plus: Have you thought about your performance for Melodifestivalen 2017?

Dismissed: Yes, it´s going to be a colorful and energetic show as it always is when we´re standing on a stage.

ESC+Plus: Do you usually watch Eurovision? What are your favorite songs in the history of the competition?

Dismissed: We don´t usually watch Eurovision but a good song is Waterloo by Abba.

ESC+Plus: If you could choose a Eurovision former participant to sing along with, who would it be?

Dismissed: Abba

ESC+Plus: Finally, can you send a message for our readers and Eurovision fans?

Dismissed: In these cold times, keep your head up high and your make up on fleak.
