Deborah Bough: “My energy and my volcano personality are some of my biggest strengths” (Swiss finalist – Interview)

ESC+Plus has talked to Deborah Bough, one of the participants to compete at Swiss national for Eurovision 2015. She will sing “Time me back to 23” on January 31.

ESC+Plus: Hello Deborah! Firstly we would like to know more about you. Can you tell us a bit about you, musical evolution and important achievements?

Sure, I was born and raised in Switzerland, Ticino, my mom is from here and my dad from the Caribbean, I started singing from the age of six, I recorded my first album in 2010 and toured all over Switzerland winning prizes and recognitions. Two years ago I classified amongst first 12 candidates at The Voice Of Switzerland while I was studying in University, I later performed in events such as for Hairdays 13 at Hallenstadion Zurich (about 7’000 spectators). This year I’m graduating and so I decided to take on a new challenge which is Eurovision song contest 2015!

E+: Why did you decide to enter the Swiss national selection?

My family and friends encouraged me to subscribe and so far I’m glad I did.

E+: What it would mean for you to represent Switzerland in Vienna?

It would mean a lot to be voted by my country, I would make sure to represent them at best, to give my best on stage and off stage because interview and other appearances are important just as much!

E+: Your song is called “Time me back to 23”. Can you tell us about the song and the story behind the lyrics?

I wrote this song during my exam session when a month earlier I met a great young man. I believe that experience together with my three years in university, brought me back to relive my twenties but with a more mature approach and it felt just amazing.

E+: How are you preparing your stage performance? Can you reveal us anything about it?

Practice, practice! Vocal training, choreography and image must be reviewed on a daily base. I try to be constant! I try 😀

E+: What are your main strengths so as to get the support of juries and televote to reach Eurovision?

I think my energy and my volcano personality are some of my biggest strengths on stage!

E+: Do you usually watch Eurovision? Do you have any favourite song in the history of the contest?

Sometimes I do. I liked Euphoria by Loreen.

E+: Besides Eurovision, what are your other plans for this year?

Publish a new album since I have most of my songs ready, then I’d like to tour in Switzerland and outside of Switzerland to give my career a twist.

E+: Finally, would you like to send a message for our readers?

Yes of course! First of all hello everyone and thank you for reading my interview, If you’d like to know more about me check out my website or follow me on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Cheeeeeeers!
