ESC+Plus has talked to Alexandra Joner, finalist of the Norwegian national selection for Eurovision 2015 “Melodi Grand Prix”. Alexandra will sing “Cinderella” in the final set on March 14.

ESC+Plus: Hello Alexandra! First of all congratulations on having been selected to compete at MGP 2015.

Thank you so much! im very excited about this new journey that’s about to happened.

E+: Can you tell us about you, your musical evolution and important achievements?

I have always told my mom that I wanted to be an artist. I will never forget the first time I stood and stage. It’s definitely like a drug.

My career started when I was about 10 years old. I started as a ballet dancers at the Opera. I did all kind off shows like the nutcracker and the swan lake. Then I got tired of ballet ( my mom was so sad), and I figured out that my dream was to become a hip hop dancer. I realized that after watching to many Britney Spears and Missy Elliot music videos :D. In worked as a professional hip hop dancer from the age of 14- 18.

But my mom always knew that I really wanted to sing, so she saw the opportunity when she saw that tv norge was holding an audition for this new talent show called “Finding the new Sandy and Danny” (Grease). So I went to the audition very nervous cause I’ve never singed in front of anybody. This audition made me realize that this is what I want to do. Then I gave out my first single #Sunrise in 2012 and it was a huge hit.

E+: Why did you decide to take part in MGP 2015?

I love crazy outfits and a lot of dancers on stage. So when I decided to do this I saw this is an amazing opportunity to finally realise my stage/performance dream. And to work with so professional people on national television.

E+: What it would mean for you to represent Norway in Vienna?

That would mean the world to me. I would love to maybe show an other side of Norway. We are not just about skiing and waffles. We have so much more to offer the world. And it would be amazing to be loved and represent me country in other ways.

E+: Your song is called “Cinderella”. Can you tell us about your song and the story behind the lyrics?

The song is about having a dream and realising it no matter what kind of struggle you may meet along the way. I really hope that people can recognise themselves in my song.

E+: How was the cooperation with the composers of your song?

The composers are great. They did my last single “Tap dance”, and we collaborated great. With the best vibe in the studio.

E+: Have you started to prepare your stage performance? Can you reveal us anything about it?

I have been thinking, thinking and thinking a lot about what I want to do. And I really want to realise my childhood dream, to do a kind of Mtv music awards show. With a lot going on. I can’t tell so much about it, but it will be colourful and happy, and a bit sassy/sexy.

E+: What are your main strengths so as to get the needed support to win the contest?

My main strengths is that I hope people feel the love I feel when I am on stage. I love to perform, and I love to make people happy with my work. So I hope people feel my good energy through the television.

E+: What can this competition contribute to your musical career?

I think that this is an amazing opportunity in every way. At home you can make your fan base bigger because a lot of my fans are younger so it would be amazing to show what I can do to an older crowd as well.

And if I win Eurovision! I can even imagine what amazing opportunities you can get. The only thing I now is that I’m gonna embrace everything. And It would be super cool to go on tour in Europe. I love to see other cities and places!

E+: Do you usually watch Eurovision? Do you have any favorite song in the history of the contest?

My mom love Eurovision so I have seen a lot with her. I really loved Euphoria that was an amazing song. and of course I saw when Alexander Rybak won the whole thing, so surreal. And Abba is just epic!

E+: What is your favourite singer?

My favourite artist is Rihanna! Star quality.

E+: Finally, would you like to send a message for our readers?

Thank you for all the love and support. I will do my best to make you all proud if I ever get to Eurovision. I hope that you all love “Cinderella” as much as I do! I will do my best to impress all of you!
