Interview Eurovision Eurovision 2015 Portugal

Adelaide Ferreira: “My song is a sobbing and a scream to the world” (Portuguese participant – Interview)

ESC+Plus has talked to Adelaide Ferreira, contender of the Portuguese national selection for Eurovision 2015 “Festival da Canção”.

Adelaide, who represented Portugal at Eurovision 1985, will make a second attempt with the song “Paz”. The singer will compete in the first semi-final to take place tomorrow.

ESC+Plus: Hello Adelaide ! Firstly congratulations on having been selected to compete at Festival da Canção 2015. Can you tell us about you, your musical evolution and important achievements?

I have always loved music, music is my life. During my musical career, I have released some ballads such as “Dava Tudo”, “All the tears we cried” and “Papel Principal” which still bear in the Portuguese souls and minds.

E+: Why did you decide to take part in Portuguese selection this year?

I admire Eurovision a lot but I’m not here to win. Having the opportunity to show my music it’s already a victory.

E+: What memories do you have from your first Eurovision participation back in 1985?

Since then I learned how to play the piano and tried composition.

E+: What it would mean for you to represent Portugal for the second time in this competition?

A music showcase to show the Portuguese soul and state of mind today.

E+: Can you tell us about your song “Paz” and the story behind the lyrics? How was the composition procedure?

“PAZ” in English means ” PEACE”. This is the song I’m going to sing and I feel the need to share it with the people.

I feel pain in my heart and I let it flow through the music. I’m very aware of all people suffering so, I feel this song is a sobbing and a scream to the world. We need to give love and feel sympathy, the main role of our destiny.

E+: Have your started to prepare your stage performance? Can you reveal us anything about it?

I have some ideas about it, I would like to have some flames on stage to warm the people’s hearts.

E+: What can this competition contribute to your musical career?

This competition is very important to my career because it gives me the opportunity to show my music.

E+: Do you usually watch Eurovision? Do you have any favourite song in the history of the contest?

Yes, I usually watch Eurovision and I love it.
