Eurovision Eurovision 2018 Spain

First Operación Triunfo finalists decided in Spain

Tonight, the extremely popular talent show in the country has found out the first acts who will battle out for the ticket to Lisbon and the win of the entire edition.

Operacion Triunfo is reaching its most exciting time of the season: not only the finals, which the contestants have been chasing by working so hard throughout the past three months but the chance to go to Eurovision and represent Spain. Once the show started back in October, there were not any details on how RTVE was going to approach the selection of its 2018 Eurovision act, although fans and specialized press predicted the broadcaster was going to leave it in hands of the well-known TV show, which was making its big come-back after 6 years since it was cancelled due to low expectations and low tv viewing figures.

Now that it all has been confirmed and RTVE gave the appropriate information about the number of finalists and how the songs will be assigned to each and every one of them, it is time to find out which four acts, out of the five who will be competing on January 29th, have already been confirmed. The panel in the studio had 75% of the final say on tonight’s decision as each member rated all the performances with a mark and the ones with the top 3 scores qualified first. Then, the teachers at the academy went on to save another one. Thus, the first four confirmed acts for the Spanish national final are:

Competing for the fifth spot (To be announced next week):

The remaining fifth and last spot will be given to the singer who gets most of the votes from the televoting, which will be allowed to vote until next Monday when the 12th weekly show will be aired live. Then, the complete line-up for the national final will become known. Afterwards, one song (m.l. in the Spanish language) will be given out to each of the contestants only 6 days ahead of the selection show, time that they will use to prepare the performances and properly adapt to the song and its right interpretation and delivery on stage.

100% televote will decide the winner and thus, Spanish representative at the Eurovision Song Contest 2018 in Lisbon.

Who is your favourite among the first qualified acts? Which style fits best for each of them and Eurovision?
