RTP has just broadcast the first out of the two semifinals of this year’s Festival da Canção. 4 acts have gone through to the final on March 7th.
Today the Portuguese audience has seen the first semifinal of their traditional song festival happen with 8 candidates competing for a spot in the national final:
- MEERA – Copo de Gin
- Filipe Sambado – Gerbera Amarela do Sul
- Ian Mucznik – O Dia de Amanhã (João Cabrita)
- Bárbara Tinoco – Passe-Partout (Tiago Nacarato)
- Blasted – Rebellion
- Elisa – Medo de Sentir (Marta Carvalho)
- JJaZZ – Agora (Rui Pregal Da Cunha)
- Throes + The Shine – Movimento
At the end of the show, an equal combination of the votes from a professional jury panel and the audience via SMS has determined the first 4 finalists of Festival da Canção 2020.

Next week, the Portuguese national selection will continue with another 8 candidates performing original songs at the Second Semi-Final, which will be hosted by Sónia Araújo and José Carlos Malato.
