Eurovision: More about Slovakia potentially returning to the contest

There is more news about a potential return of Slovakia in the contest, but it will not be in 2024 in Malmö (Sweden). The reason why Slovakia did not compete the last couple of years is because of financial reasons.

Slovakia might return

The General Director of the Slovakian national broadcaster RTVS, Ľuboš Macha, is looking into a return of Slovakia in the Eurovision Song Contest, and maybe as soon as the 2025 edition. The last time Slovakia competed was in 2012 in Baku (Azerbaijan).

How to look for a new entrant?

In an interview Ľuboš Macha also stated that RTVS is also considering how to find its new entrant, and whether they will do this by a televised selection process or an internal selection. In 2009 and 2010 Slovakia had a televised national selection, but in 2011 and 2012 the country opted for an internal selection.

Slovakia competed 8 times in the Eurovision Song Contest. As of the time during which countries needed to battle it out in Semi-finals Slovakia competed 4 times, but never managed to reach the Grand Final.
