Zagreb Calling

From Bosnia & Herzegovina we head North to the neighboring country of Croatia. Croatia while no longer participating in the Eurovision Song Contest continues to participate in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest, returning to the contest in Malta.

Croatia debuted in Eurovision in 1993 and has gone on to take part in 21 editions of the contest. Croatia’s best result came in 1999 when Doris Dragovic sang “Marija Magdalena” at the 1999 contest in Jerusalem, Israel. She finished in 4th place with a total of 118 points. Croatia was last seen in the contest in 2013 where they were represented by Klapa S Mora with the song “Mizerija” they failed to qualify for the final.

On the Croatian Eurojury is the first artist to represent Croatia in the 21st century, Goran Karan. Goran Karan sang “Ostani” in Stockholm, scoring a total of 70 points and finishing 9th. In the rest of the 2000s Croatia did not manage to place any higher than Goran’s result in Stockholm.
