Eurovision Eurovision 2016 Estonia

Estonia: ETV to announce 2016 Eesti Laul acts on November 5th!

As previously announced some weeks ago, Estonian public tv station ETV, in charge of Eurovision in the country, will go on over again with the well-known Eesti Laul contest to pick the act waving their flag in Stockholm. Something has changed this year though. They have determined the artists need more time to promote and make their songs more popular in the country in order to increase the audience of the contest and for the people to know better who they will be voting for to represent them.

As the deadline to submit an entry comes on the 2nd of November, then an internal jury panel will shortlist all received applications to 20 on the 4th and 5th of November, being the 5th itself the same day that ETV will announce on its TV show ”Ringvaade” at 18:00 CET, the acts taking part at next year’s Estonian extravaganza in February/March.

All 20 acts will have time until the 11th of December to present their songs to the public on whatever platform they decide. This is so as to follow what we told a few lines before.

Eesti Laul 2016 schedule:

  • 02/11 – Deadline to submit entries
  • 13/02/2016 – Semi-final 1
  • 20/02/2016 – Semi-final 2
  • 05/03/2016 – Grand Final

Stay tuned for more updates on next year’s Eesti Laul and Estonia at the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest, taking place on the 10th, 12th and 14th May 2016 inside Stockholm’s Globe Arena.
