Czech Republic 2023: Five competing artists announced

Czech national broadcaster, Ceska Televize, has announced the 5 acts that are going to compete in the national final of the Czech Republic, called “ESCZ 2023”, on January 30th 2023 at 21:00 CET in the capital of this country, Prague.

The national final of the Czech Republic, with the name “ESCZ 2023”, will know 5 contestants. Below you can find which artists these are.

  • Markéta Irglová
  • Pam Rabbit
  • RODAN
  • Vesna

Notable names

There are two notable names among the 5 contestants of ESCZ 2023. There is Markéta Irglová, who was a contestant in the Icelandic national final of 2022, and there is Pam Rabbit, who competed to represent the Czech Republic in 2019 and 2022, but did not get a chance to do so yet.

How will the final outcome be determined?

The final outcome of the Czech national final will be determined by 70% international televotes (online) and 30% of Czech televoting. The winner will be announced on February 6th 2023.

First national live final in 15 years

The Czech Republic did not have a live national final for 15 years now. Before the ESCZ format was used merely as an online selection format. In 2007 and 2008 the winner was determined by a show called “Eurosong”.

Eurovision 2022

In the contest of 2022 the Czech Republic was represented by the group We Are Domi with the song “Lights Off”. In Semi-final 2 We Are Domi finished in 4th place, and in the Grand Final they came in 22nd place (of 25).
