Cyprus launches big national selection!

Cypriot broadcaster CyBC has just confirmed thorough their official website they will run a special selection process so as to celebrate the 60th anniversary of Eurovision.

CyBC has planned a large selection process consisting of 10 different heats: broadcasted auditions, Semi-Finals, Second Chance Show and Grand Final. A minute of each song will be released during the first heat, the winner of each semifinal will qualify for the Grand Final, the runner-up acts will compete in the second chance show and finally, only one will join the other qualifiers in the Grand Final. The final winner and Cypriot representative will be decided by a mix 50% televoting / jury.

Submissions are now open and composers can send their songs until September 5, foreigners composers are also invited to take part. 

Cyprus made its debut in 1981 and they have reached three 5th places, most recently in 2004.
