Eurovision Eurovision 2022 Belgium

Belgium: Song presentation on March 10th 2022

The song presentation of the Belgian contestant of this year, Jérémie Makiese, will be on March 10th 2022. The Belgians decided on being one of the first countries to announce their 2022 representative in September 2021, but up until March 10 2022 the song of Jérémie will be unknown.

What will be the set-up for the song presentation?

The presentation will be simultaneously on two Belgian radio stations; one of the Dutch-speaking part of Belgium (MNM), the other one on the French-speaking part (VivaCité). Since Jérémie belongs to the French-speaking part of Belgium he will be present live in the radio studio of the Belgian French-language radio show VivaCité.

The radio broadcast of VivaCité, which will take place between 08:00 – 09:00 (AM) on March 10th 2002, can also be watched live on the Walloon TV channel La Une. On this channel the song and the videoclip will be released.

How is the Belgian representative chosen?

Belgium knows three different language parts: Dutch-, French, and German-speaking. The Dutch part is better known as “Flanders”, and the French part as “Wallonia”. One year the Dutch-speaking part of Belgium sends a representative to the Eurovision Song Contest, the other year the French-speaking part (the German-speaking part is linked to the French-speaking). This year’s representative comes from the French-speaking part of Belgium, and was the winner of “La Voix de Belgique 2021”, the French-speaking Belgian version of the well-known TV format “The Voice”. Great successful Walloon artists of the last couple of Eurovision Song Contests were chosen through the The Voice format, i.e. Roberto Bellarosa (2013), Loïc Nottet (2015), and Blanche (2017). Statistically the French-speaking part of Belgium has had more Eurovision success stories, since they secured Belgium’s first and only win up to now, with 1984’s “J’aime la vie” sung by Walloon singer Sandra Kim. In 2003 the Walloons came close to winning again when the band Urban Trad came in 2nd with their song “Sanomi”.

Eurovision Song Contest 2022

This year’s Eurovision Song Contest will take place on May 10th (Semi-final 1), 12th (Semi-final 2), and on the 14th (Grand Final) in Turin, Italy. Belgium will compete in the second half of the second Semi-final.
