The way this news about Austria was announced was by a response on a Facebook post of our colleagues of ESC Kompakt. Eberhard Forcher, an Austrian DJ, professor, and musician, who also works for the public broadcaster of Austria, ORF, answered on the post by writing that Austria will present its next entrant on January 18th 2024.
How did the internal selection process of Austria go?
The internal way Austria chose its next representative was with a 25-member jury that consisted of music professionals, but also several Eurovision fan clubs. This jury was asked to watch live auditions at the ORF studios and to eventually come to a consensus about who is going to represent Austria next. 14 Acts were in the running to enter the big Eurovision stage.

In the Eurovision Song Contest of 2023 Austria was represented by Teya & Salena with the song “Who the Hell is Edgar”. The Austrian duo ended in 2nd place (of 16) in Semi-final 1, and eventually they came in 15th (of 26) in the Grand Final.
